Job Summary:
The Director Health Equity is responsible for the research, development and refinement of equitable health and nutrition systems and strategies designed to promote and maintain the health and well-being of children and families across the early care and education environments served by Acelero Learning and Shine Early Learning programs. As a member of the Program Quality Family Engagement and Health team, the Director Health Equity develops strategies to ensure children’s and families’ access to high quality medical and dental homes, maintain up to date status on EPSDT, and high-quality support for identified health and nutrition chronic conditions. This also includes strategies to promote health equity, including health literacy, health advocacy and efforts to dismantle systemic inequities in access and quality of health care for marginalized communities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Establishes health and nutrition systems that maintain compliance with health and nutrition requirements while centering families’ efficacy and ability to act on behalf of their children’s health and well-being.

• Co-designs and codifies, with key stakeholders, health and nutrition strategy, including creating desk- aids, implementation tools and manuals.

• Utilizes qualitative and quantitative data to design and refine strategies, working to ensure that compliance systems are effective, functional and easily understood by end users.
• Works in collaboration with Professional Learning team to create professional development pathway for staff in health and nutrition best practice and program systems, including embedded professional learning to support strategy execution.
• Collaborates with the Program Impact team to apply implementation science to strategy design and development, develop logic models and data collection and evaluation strategies to assess strategy impact to engage in continuous quality improvement.
• Works in collaboration with end users across Acelero, Inc. early care and education programs to design, test and refine health and nutrition programmatic approach to assure its feasibility and responsiveness to diverse geographic, racial, cultural, and community contexts.
• Establishes quality assurance processes to support strategy execution; including ensuring that programs remain in compliance with all health and nutrition regulatory systems, including Head Start Performance Standards, childcare licensing, QRIS and other state and local regulatory bodies.
• Collaborates with other members of Program Quality FEH team to align health and nutrition policies and practices with overall equitable family engagement approach
• Works collaboratively with Acelero Learning health and nutrition leadership and Program Policy and Performance to maintain updated health and nutrition policies and procedures.
• Establishes strong working relationships with Shine Early Learning, Acelero Learning and LIT Program Services and Innovation, Program Impact teams to inform innovation and strategy refinements.
• Assures that our health and nutrition practices are aligned with up-to-date research and evidence, with particular attention to evidence of strategies shown to be effective in reducing health disparities
• Stays abreast of and establishes relationships with national leadership promoting equitable health and nutrition strategies within early care and education settings
• Seeks out those working to dismantle conditions leading to health disparities among marginalized communities as thought partners and collaborators in service of Acelero, Inc’s health and nutrition strategy.
• Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required.

• Demonstrating leadership in alignment of work and approach to company vision, mission, core
values and the advancement of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
• Serving as an active member of both the Acelero, Inc. executive leadership team and Acelero Shine
leadership teams.
• Communicating department goals and progress frequently and effectively with Acelero, Inc. board of
directors, executive leadership, business unit leaders, and other appropriate internal and external
stakeholders.
• Partnering in cross-network communications and development activities to advance Acelero’s
strategic priorities.
• Serving as an industry thought leader on HR-related topics through conference presentations,
articles, and professional or scientific publications.

Job Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Public Health, Health Education or related field; master’s degree
preferred.
2. A minimum of five years’ experience designing and executing health and nutrition systems of care in
ECE, school or maternal/child health environments, with understanding of state and national health
and nutrition compliance regulations.
3. Deep content expertise in the fields of child and family health and nutrition, with demonstrated
knowledge of the research in health disparities among communities of color in the US.
4. Demonstrated experience working in collaboration with diverse stakeholders to develop, design and
refine health and nutrition strategy.
5. Demonstrated experience in codification of health and nutrition strategy, including policy writing,
implementation tool and supporting material development.
6. Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
7. Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and
functions.
8. Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated computer literacy skills, especially using Google Suite apps; spreadsheets, basic
data management systems and internet navigation.
• Must be honest, dependable and able to meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.

• Ability to sit most of the time with some bending and reaching.
• Ability to stand, walk, and bend periodically.
• Ability to engage in repetitive movement of wrists, hands, and fingers – typing and/or writing.
• Ability to work frequently at close visual range (i.e. preparing and analyzing data and figures,
accounting, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading).
• Ability to receive and respond to oral communication.
• Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.


Work Environment:
• Work is generally performed in a remote office environment.
• Noise level in the work environment is moderate to occasionally loud (examples: business office with
computers and printers, light to moderate traffic, human voices).
• Standard office equipment generally used includes:
o Smartphone/Telephone
o Personal Computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse), Laptop, or Tablet
o Printer/Photocopy Machine
o Calculator
o Fax Machine
• May be required to operate a motor vehicle during the course of duties.
