Nutrition Coordinator

As the Nutrition Coordinator at Acelero Learning South Carolina, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of children and families across our Head Start program. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead nutrition initiatives, ensure compliance with federal nutrition standards, and support staff and families in fostering lifelong healthy habits. You will collaborate closely with Health Coordinators, Family Advocates, Food Service staff, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality nutrition services that directly impact children’s developmental success. If you are a mission-driven nutrition professional ready to make a meaningful difference, we invite you to join our dedicated team.

Your Role

As the Nutrition Coordinator, you will oversee nutrition services across multiple centers, ensuring adherence to Head Start Performance Standards, CACFP regulations, and internal nutrition policies. You will guide nutrition-related assessments, develop Integrated Care Plans (ICPs), support children with dietary or health needs, and equip families with knowledge to build healthy habits at home. Through collaboration, coaching, and ongoing monitoring, you will help create safe, inclusive, and nutrition-forward environments for all children enrolled in our program.

What You’ll Do

Assess & Support Children’s Nutritional Health

  • Collaborate with Health Coordinators and the Health Team to complete Nutrition Questionnaires and gather required health information for all enrolled children.

  • Conduct BMI re-screenings for children with elevated or low BMI results to determine the need for individualized nutrition support.

  • Develop Integrated Care Plans (ICPs) for children with nutrition-related concerns such as anemia, obesity, low weight, and food allergies.

  • Provide nutrition education and goal-setting assistance to families to promote healthy growth and long-term wellness.

Ensure Nutrition Compliance & Menu Quality

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of CACFP regulations and actively engage in ongoing nutrition-related professional development.

  • Review and modify menus alongside Food Service Coordinators to ensure they are nutritionally sound, culturally relevant, and reflective of children’s dietary needs.

  • Create individualized menus for children with unique dietary requirements, including those with multiple food allergies.

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date lists of special ingredients and approved food substitutions.

Maintain Health Records & Monitoring Systems

  • Update and maintain comprehensive health and nutrition records in database systems with accuracy and timeliness.

  • Conduct regular monitoring of program sites to ensure full compliance with all nutrition policies and procedures.

  • Document nutrition services, interventions, and follow-up actions in accordance with federal and program expectations.

Coach, Train & Collaborate

  • Provide guidance and training to Family Advocates, Health Advocates, and Center staff on nutrition policies, care planning, and best practices for supporting healthy eating.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Health Coordinators, Disabilities/Mental Health staff, and Food Services teams to ensure integrated support for children and families.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to align nutritional needs with broader program goals and family support plans.

What You Bring

  • Registered Dietitian or Nutritionist credential required.

  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to educate, coach, and collaborate across diverse teams and family populations.

  • Ability to travel locally or long-distance up to 10% for meetings, trainings, or program needs.

  • Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.

  • Must successfully pass a physical exam, background checks, and all required screenings.
