DESCRIPTION

Amazon’s Region Flexibility Migration (RFM) team is actively seeking a Software Development Engineer to expand in Sunnyvale. The RFM team is committed to constructing and harnessing fundamental infrastructure capabilities, tools, and datasets crucial for the swift global expansion of Amazon's Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) infrastructure. Our primary emphasis lies in crafting resilient and scalable architecture patterns for regional placement automation, integrating engineering best practices, and championing the adoption of state-of-the-art AWS technologies to ensure the operation of all Amazon services with multi-region redundancy.

We are actively seeking a dynamic and innovative Software Development Engineer (SDE) to play a key role in realizing our ambitious vision. Your responsibilities will involve conceptualizing and implementing technical solutions for regional placement automation, cross-region libraries, and tools that enhance the efficiency of teams throughout Amazon. At its core, our team orchestrates the migration of cloud infrastructure, spanning across AWS regions, at an unparalleled scale. Key job responsibilities
• Your role will involve solving algorithmically complex problems, working on both front and backend services that can scale to millions of requests, and building products to benefit tens of thousands of developers on a global scale, ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
• Your role is to design, implement, maintain, and deploy components addressing challenges within a complex ecosystem. Work across various programming languages, with a focus on Python and Java. What matters most is your proficiency in coding within the context of distributed systems and/or widely scaled web applications.
• Your role is to collaborate effectively, combining enthusiasm for problem-solving with strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Your role is to operate primarily within the Linux environment. We are seeking individuals who have fine-tuned their favorite distro to align with their preferences, going beyond hobbyists to showcase a deep understanding of Linux systems.

Requirements
• We are seeking an engineer well-versed in service-oriented architecture, capable of contributing to the rapid innovation at scale.
• We are looking for individuals with a strong understanding of networking fundamentals, encompassing experience with load balancers, switches, and routers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
