DESCRIPTION

The OpsTech Network (OTN) Wireless team is seeking an experienced Sr. Technical Program Manager.

In this role you will own delivery of cross organization initiatives, assist in developing and leading organization roadmaps, driving efficiency in processes, and delivering on goals. You understand, utilize and share program-management best practices. You may be assigned to manage the roadmap for an organization, which may include contributing to OP1/OP2 narratives, and ownership of one or more organizational goals. As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you are accountable for the overall strategy as well as driving teams inside and outside your organization to deliver. You are able to define the program (mission, vision, tenets), set goals, analyze data, drive improvements that are quantified with metrics, and influence resource allocation. You understand the systems in your product or program space, their limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions, and reasons behind architectural choices.

As a Sr. Technical Program Manager, you will partner with strong technical leaders to drive the long-term vision of the organization. You will understand the significant business problems, automation limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions, and reasons behind decisions. You will streamline and/or eliminate excess process. You will influence teams to decouple from dependencies and eliminate problems that stifle innovation or cause user dissatisfaction. You will demonstrate good judgment in how and when to escalate. You are data-oriented, regularly review metrics, and proactively seek out new and improved data/mechanisms for visibility. You will ensure your programs stay aligned with organizational goals.

You will ensure stakeholder needs are aligned, while driving mindful discussions that lead to crisp decisions. You will partner with customers, internal/external teams, and/or engineering teams to determine what projects move forward and in what priority order. You will write effective narratives, program updates, and present them effectively to stakeholders and management team. You create plans that have clear, measurable success criteria and return on investment. You oversee the gap between teams, processes, and systems. You are able to solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks.

You help teams/your organization reduce exposure to classic failure modes (e.g., requirements not sufficiently understood/documented, ineffective cross-team collaboration, long-term impact(s) from of the use of third-party technologies, APIs not protected/hardened, insufficient testing/gaps in QA). You solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks (before they become roadblocks). You demonstrate good judgment in how and when to escalate (without damaging relationships). You regularly review metrics and proactively seek out new and improved data/mechanisms for visibility. You ensure your program stays aligned with organizational vision.

As a Sr. Technical Program Manager, you will drive continuous improvement activities for the organization and use mechanisms to ensure the sustainability of the solutions you implement. This role requires a candidate with proven ability to facilitate and guide the application of Lean Six Sigma and similar quality methods across an organization. This leader must be a change agent and be able to influence without authority in a highly customer-centric environment. You will participate in the exchange and promotion of continuous improvement best practices as well as influence and train organizational members in lean process thinking and the application of continuous improvement tools.

This role includes travel; up to 10%.

About the team
The Wireless Architecture team identifies, pilots, and builds new solutions for our customers around the world. Extending network coverage via 60GHz overlay, designing new solutions for our robotics customers, creating a wireless bridge for customers who don't support wireless natively, and finally helping the greater wireless org. manage the >500k AP's and 1MM clients network for our customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 6+ years of technical product or program management experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
- Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements.
- Experience owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery and communicating results to senior and executive leadership.
- Wired & Wireless Networking background/knowledge required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master’s degree (MBA, Engineering, Operations Management, Mathematics, Science).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) / equivalent certification, or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) / Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- Experience instructing executives, managers, associates, and continuous improvement champions on Lean methodologies and/or technology projects
- Proficient in obtaining, organizing, and analyzing data to challenge conventional wisdom, make fact-based decisions, drive root cause analysis, and evaluate outcomes
- Strong sense of urgency and personal commitment; ability to deliver in a deadline-driven environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of key business financial metrics, providing metric inputs to various reporting venues, and communicating key performance indicators to stakeholders in support of business objectives
- Proven experience working with large scale technology systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
