Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
As an UX Designer, you will be a valuable member of Project Kuiper’s Customer Devices Experiences team, and will design exceptional user experiences that delight our customers across the globe. In collaboration with business leaders, engineers, product managers, and other UX designers, you will work from defined requirements to pressure test ideas through tactical design execution. You will deliver beautiful and compelling user interface designs that will be used by customers across various market segments and industries.
Project Kuiper’s success requires leaders who are owners, and who possess the entrepreneurial spirit needed to create new products.
A successful candidate will be curious, creative, highly analytical and be able to work autonomously to drive impact as part of a large growing cross-functional team (product and program managers, software and hardware engineers, business development and marketing managers and industrial designers). We are looking for a designer who is a systems-thinker and highly-skilled at establishing and/or utilizing design systems as part of the design workflow.
The ideal candidate is customer-obsessed and has experience collecting user insights and feedback to validate designs. Designers who have experience conducting generative and evaluative research (interviews, observational studies, contextual inquiry, usability testing, accessibility audits, etc.), and who are adept at leading internal and external design workshops and design discovery activities are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must be capable of synthesizing a variety of inputs into experiences and designs that customers love!
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
- Design customer journey flows and low, medium and high-fidelity user interface mockups/wireframes.
- Participate in and lead cross-functional design review meetings for input and sign-off on design artifacts.
- Contribute to design briefs, proposals, reports and executive summaries as needed to keep the product team and Kuiper leadership team informed of design opportunities and design progress.
- Provide design clarification and consultation as needed to engineers when UX features are being developed.
- Provide design assets (product screen flows, user guidelines/explainers, etc.) as needed to the Kuiper Marketing Team to be used on external-facing Kuiper website and other promotional materials.
- Participate and provide input in product change control processes post-launch.
- Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity and a track record of leading design projects that have launched.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or equivalent design-related field; or commensurate experience.
- 2+ years of UX design or interaction design experience
- 2+ years of design experience creating mockups, wireframes and prototypes for web and mobile applications and/or workflows.
- Experience using tools such as Figma for prototyping design concepts and for defining and documenting the user interface architecture (UI patterns, components and guidelines).
- Experience designing and using design systems and design frameworks
- Have an available online portfolio demonstrating samples of design deliverables (design systems, personas, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience designing consumer-facing or enterprise experiences in a highly agile environment.
- Experience in applying and advocating for best practices for accessible UX. Experience designing for federal 508 Compliance a plus.
- 2+ years of experience working in direct collaboration with designers, product managers, developers, and/or stakeholders
- Experience participating in the complete product development lifecycle of successfully launched applications
- Ability to prototype in environments like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS a plus but not required
- Ability to manage multiple projects and make impact in a fast-paced environment.
- Adobe Creative Cloud experience (Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar) a plus
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to articulate the rationale behind your design decisions.
- Experience conducting user research, or assisting with the collection of user insights and feedback (e.g., customer interviews and usability studies) and leveraging research in your designs.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $72,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $158,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
