Did you know there's an estimated 2.5 Billion miles of fiber optical cables placed all around the world!? These cables are deployed underground, on power poles and even along the ocean floor.

This team within the Global Capacity and Infrastructure Development Organization builds tools to improve the velocity of the acquisition and deployment of AWS network infrastructure across the globe.

We are looking for a developer with strong computer science fundamentals, including UX design, data structures, object-oriented design, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis. If you have a track record of designing and building scalable, complex solutions across distributed systems in an agile environment, we want to talk to you.



Key job responsibilities
* Design and build full-stack solutions.
* Use your problem-solving skills, collaborating with creative and technical teams, thinking-big and inventing and simplifying to solve challenges.
* Deliver novel customer experiences by developing solutions.
* Collaborate with teams across Amazon to integrate and optimize existing ad products to take advantage of Amazon's scale and reach.
* Leverage your technical ability, excellent organizational and communication skills to build and solve challenging and ambiguous problems. You'll use your ingenuity and motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
* Provide guidance to and mentor other SDEs in the team.
* Be responsible for high quality bar, ensuring quality design reviews and robust engineering practices for automated testing and code coverage.

A day in the life
This role is within a small, but critical team within the Global Connectivity Infrastructure Development organization. The team is building software solutions that drive increased velocity of the network acquisition and deployment processes. We must deploy and manage cloud infrastructure solutions that support these tools and we are developing new microservices that support our customers needs. Big areas of focus include the automation of network designs and fiber test reviews.

Within AWS Networking, the Global Capacity Infrastructure Development organization is responsible for connecting Amazon locations to one another, and then to the global Internet. With connections to thousands in hundreds of locations across the world, our mission is to deliver connectivity experience that sets the global standard for performance, availability, security, and cost, making Amazon the clear choice for our customers’ needs. Our team provides high-performing Internet connectivity for a wide range of use cases, such as retail, video streaming (Prime Video), content delivery (CloudFront), DNS (Route53), AWS services (such as EC2/S3), consumer devices (such as FireTV/Kindle/Echo), and more.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
