As a Senior Test Engineer at Amplify, you will join a talented team tackling the toughest problems in education with the best ideas in technology – including user experience, APIs and services, and deployment pipelines.

What You’ll Do:

Impress the toughest customers around – students – by:

  • writing fast test automation using tools like webdriverIO or Selenium WebDriver

  • ensuring an equitable experience for students by ensuring application code runs great across platforms under variable memory and network constraints

  • Make life better for passionate teachers by:

  • improving apps reliability and uptime by performing extensive load testing

  • writing lots of tests for APIs to ensure that our apps interoperate with ease

  • monitoring apps to make sure they are available to teachers and classrooms

  • Help school administrators build great schools by:

  • building software that respects privacy and ensures security while offering useful insights

  • analyzing performance and finding tricky bugs using tools like DataDog or AWS CloudWatch

  • Learn every day by:

  • collaborating and having your code reviewed on a cross-functional team

  • providing and receiving constructive feedback on a close-knit team

  • participating in cross-team share-outs, brownbags, and workshop series

Example Projects You Might Work On:

  • Working on teams that craft immersive compelling experiences for teachers and students using the latest web tools.

  • Implementing logic that handles student work: from persistence to selecting the right activity for the right student at the right moment.

  • Optimizing software so that it can handle hundreds of thousands of kids with stability and security in mind.

  • Ensuring existing software continues to function well by automating regression tests.

  • Improving our workflows and tooling, and of course our existing customer experience.

Minimum Qualifications of the Senior Test Engineer:

  • BSCS or equivalent

  • 5+ years test automation experience

  • Excellent coding skills in Java, or Javascript, or another object-oriented language and the ability to quickly learn a new language

  • Deep experience with relational databases

  • Solid understanding of APIs

  • Experience writing test automation for APIs

  • Hands-on involvement in writing and running load tests

  • Ability to work with a close-knit team and to both give and receive constructive feedback

  • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Datadog

  • Practical knowledge of Agile processes

  • Proficiency with Slack, Jira, Google Docs

  • Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, CI, AWS

What we offer:

Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a 401(k) plan, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The gross annualized salary range for this role is $115,000 - $125,000. This role is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.
