Amplify is seeking a Program Manager to lead our Engineering Excellence initiatives, a critical role in our multi-year platform strategy. This individual will be responsible for overseeing and driving efforts to ensure a stable, reliable, and high-quality experience for students, teachers, and administrators. The role involves managing three primary tracks for 2026: Back-to-School (BTS) 2026 reliability and performance, ai tooling adaption and measurement, and long-term engineering excellence.

The Program Manager will focus on driving the organization towards sustained delivery velocity, predictability, and innovation by running a program where Amplify invests in its people, processes, and tooling to achieve those goals. You will serve as the central driver for engineering excellence initiatives, owning key metrics, and improving cross-team communication and alignment across the organization

This is a contract role with an initial engagement of 6 months, extensible to 12 months.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Program Coordination: Lead the planning and execution of engineering excellence initiatives, including reliability & performance, developer experience, quality, and AI adoption.

  • Reliability Oversight: Coordinate efforts to meet BTS 2026 reliability and performance targets, such as achieving 100% uptime and significantly reducing lower severity incidents.

  • Metric Ownership: Establish and track key outcome measures, including DORA metrics (deployment frequency, lead time for changes) and engineering/product sentiment surveys. This will include setup and maintenance of dashboard and data sources.

  • Production Readiness: Coordinate the implementation of "Ready for Production" standards across priority applications, ensuring full measurability, monitoring, and scaling capabilities.

  • Stakeholder Alignment: Create and maintain clear communication artifacts for pillars, prioritized substreams, and outcomes to align product, design, and engineering teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Professional Experience: 10+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager, Technical Delivery Manager, or in a similar role within a fast-paced SaaS software development environment serving 5M+ users..

  • Technical Delivery: Proven track record of guiding cross-functional teams through the delivery of complex software or reliability and performance platform projects.

  • Methodologies: Strong knowledge of Agile practices, software development lifecycles, and DORA metrics.

  • Project Management Tools: Proficiency in using JIRA Plans for cross-team project tracking, risk management, and reporting.

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical trade-offs and progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sector Expertise: Experience working in the K-12 education technology (EdTech) sector.

  • Engineering Metrics: Experience working with setting up and delivery of industry standard engineering metrics such as DORA

  • SRE Knowledge: Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, SLOs, and observability tools like Datadog.

  • AI Tooling: Experience or strong interest in modern AI coding tools and driving their adoption within engineering teams.

  • Advanced Certification: PMP, CSP, or other relevant project management certifications.

Compensation:

The hourly rate range for this role is $75.00 - $125.00.
