The Staff Software Engineer in Test is a senior technical role responsible for ensuring the highest quality of our software products. This individual will lead the development and implementation of automated testing frameworks, design comprehensive test strategies, and mentor junior team members. The ideal candidate is passionate about quality, thrives in a collaborative environment, and has a proven track record of delivering robust automated testing solutions.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Test Strategy and Planning:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive test strategies and plans to ensure product quality
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and define test cases and acceptance criteria
Automation Development:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and scripts
- Ensuring automated tests are integrated into the CI/CD pipeline and providing timely feedback to the development team
Manual Testing:
- Performing exploratory and manual testing as needed to ensure all aspects of the product are tested
- Identifying, documenting, and tracking defects to resolution
Mentorship and Leadership:
- Mentoring and guiding junior software engineers in test on best practices and advanced testing techniques
- Leading by example in promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement
Collaboration and Communication:
- Working closely with development, product management, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of high-quality software
- Communicating test results, progress, and issues to all relevant stakeholders
Innovation and Improvement:
- Staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve the testing processes and tools
- Proactively identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
The Candidate:
Required skills/qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8-12 years of experience in software testing, with a focus on test automation
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#
- Experience with test automation tools and frameworks like Palywright, Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Fluency in written and spoken English at CEF B2 level or above
Preferred skills/qualifications:
- Knowledge of performance and security testing
