About The Role
The Lead Delivery Manager holds overall responsibility for the coordination and successful delivery of temporary mobile network infrastructure across major UK events, including festivals, concerts and large-scale sporting events. Acting as the senior delivery lead, the role manages and supports the Delivery Managers and Project Administrator, providing oversight, mentorship and strategic direction. The Lead Delivery Manager liaises closely with the Programme Manager and Radio Solutions Manager, ensuring that project milestones, quality standards, budgets and health & safety requirements are consistently met. They take a proactive role in identifying and resolving risks and issues before they escalate, maintaining delivery momentum and ensuring zero slippage against deadlines. While primarily office-based, the role includes site visits for key milestones and may require stepping into a Delivery Manager’s responsibilities during absences or peak periods. This position supports both the facilitation phase (2025) and ongoing in-life operations (2026).
What You’ll Be Doing
Leadership & Team Management:
- Line manage and mentor Delivery Managers and the Project Administrator
- Provide clear direction, set performance expectations and ensure alignment with programme objectives
- Review progress, coach team members and provide regular feedback
- Steer and guide Delivery Managers to ensure they stay aligned with project objectives, applying strategic thinking to overcome challenges
- Step into Delivery Manager duties when required (due to ill health or high workloads) to maintain seamless operations
- Actively collaborate with the wider team – especially the Radio Solutions Manager to ensure the project is successful
Programme Oversight & Risk Management:
- Monitor overall delivery progress, ensuring that project milestones and critical paths are achieved
- Lead the RAID management process across the delivery team
- Proactively identify, assess and resolve risks and issues, taking decisive actions to avoid delays
- Maintain a zero-tolerance approach to missed deadlines
- Communicate risks and mitigations clearly to senior stakeholders and take ownership of driving solution
Commercial, Contractual & Supplier Management:
- Hold senior delivery partner relationship management responsibility, acting as the primary interface with the appointed Delivery Partner at a strategic level
- Monitor supplier performance against SLAs and contract milestones
- Provide oversight and challenge to Delivery Managers regarding supplier performance and issue resolution
- Demonstrate strong commercial acumen, ensuring cost control, financial forecasting and alignment with budgetary objectives
- Collaborate with the commercial team to manage budgets, authorise spend, review supplier invoices and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Oversee and engage in contractual matters, including terms with MNOs, event organisers and delivery partners
- Support procurement activities and participate in commercial negotiations as required
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the senior point of contact for MNOs delivery managers and the festival/event management teams
- Support the Programme Manager and Head of Delivery in high-level stakeholder meetings and reporting
- Ensure clear, proactive communication with all project stakeholders, maintaining professional relationships and addressing escalations promptly
Quality, Compliance & Health & Safety Oversight:
- Oversee the execution of QA processes led by the Delivery Managers and Deployment Partner
- Ultimate ownership of ensuring Health & Safety (including CDM) compliance across all sites and delivery activities
- Work closely with Delivery Managers and the H&S team to proactively identify risks and implement corrective actions
- Ensure adherence to RF exposure standards and project-specific compliance requirements – in co-ordination with the Radio Solutions Manager
- Escalate and resolve compliance concerns promptly, maintaining a culture of safety and accountability
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years Project Management experience within mobile network deployment
- Formal Project Management Qualification, (PRINCE2/APMP) or equivalent
- Following Qualifications: IOSH Managing/Supervising Safely, CDM 2015
- Knowledge of temporary and or DAS solutions (Active, Passive and Hybrid DAS).
- Senior team leadership and effective communication skills
- Experience designing and/or delivering indoor coverage solutions including active and passive distributed antenna systems (DAS) and small cells with onsite experience
- Knowledge of UK or IE mobile network architecture models and standards
- Highly disciplined, structured and proactive working style, capable of independently driving project milestones and deadlines
- A self-aware, solutions-driven individual who demonstrates initiative, resilience and adaptability in dynamic, high-pressure environment
- Clear, open and transparent communication style with team members, Stakeholders and Suppliers
- Natural problem-solver with confidence making decisions under pressure
- An understanding of the financial impact of decisions made at work
- Ability to apply industry best practice for tools and systems
- Ability to manage and lead team peers and supply chain pertinent to the delivery of projects
- Experiencing engaging at all levels in the organisation with an ability to excite others about our vision, goals and priorities
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with both internal and external customers with ability to navigate a “win-win” solution with suppliers
- Desirable:
- CITB SMSTS certification
- CSCS card
- First Aid
- Essential:
- Full UK driving licence
