ABOUT THE ROLE
The AstrumU Data Management and Services Platform is a comprehensive solution designed to capture, comprehend, and deliver actionable insights from diverse data sources. It focuses on enhancing education and workforce alignment by leveraging advanced data governance, security, observability, and lineage capabilities. This platform empowers organizations to bridge the skills gap between learning and workforce needs, ensuring that individuals and institutions can achieve their full potential through data-driven decision-making.
We are looking for an experienced engineer to strengthen and fortify our data platform. This role includes developing tools, infrastructure, telemetry, and optimizations to simplify and enhance the performance of distributed AI services and data processing capabilities. You’ll be working collaboratively across Engineering, Data Science/Data Engineering, Product, DevOps, and Sales/Solution Engineers. In this role, you’ll be involved in all aspects of our SDLC, evolving our platform and services using Python and Typescript, Azure Kubernetes Service deployed with Pulumi, Ray for our AI compute engine and modern data stack, CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, and FastAPI and GraphQL for APIs. You’ll become intimately familiar with AstrumU ’s products and SaaS business, implement/adhere to our audit/control requirements, and contribute to our business and technology strategies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop high-quality software to enhance our data platform capabilities and services. Collaborate closely with product management and the Chief Software Architect to create development tools and processes that support our business and developer needs.
- Participate in an Agile/Lean framework to ensure team ownership and effective execution in delivering working software solutions that are driven by market need.
- View communication as a critical part of your job, and over communicate technology decisions, issues and plans to team members, management and customers. Leverage data to augment your analysis and recommendations.
- Work collaboratively with our distributed engineering teams to mature our development processes and develop/champion guidelines, technology and architecture strategy, and third-party vendor relationships.
- Actively support, coach, and grow fellow software engineers and foster an inclusive environment that engages your peers in sharing expertise and learning from the larger software group. Participate in interviewing and onboarding new team members.
- Upgrade your skills and our team knowledge by staying current with technology and development tools/techniques, participating in self-directed learning, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Protect operations by keeping information confidential and adhering to AstrumU’s Information Security and Management policies.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-year degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science is preferred, MS is a plus).
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in Python or TypeScript with experience in delivering production-quality code.
- Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and system design.
- Experience in building scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems and infrastructure as code.
- Solid understanding of software engineering methodologies and best practices, including estimation, design documentation, testing, PR, and release management.
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure preferred) and infrastructure components like Kubernetes, Docker, and GitHub Actions.
- Passion for enhancing developer experience, ensuring tools and processes are efficient, intuitive, and support developer productivity and satisfaction.
- Creative and detail-oriented with excellent technical communication skills, able to simplify complex concepts for non-technical clients.
WHAT WE OFFER
AstrumU pays a gross annualized base salary range for this position of $140,000 to $180,000 based on qualifications, skills, experience, and company values and culture alignment. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical to allow for future and continued compensation growth. Additionally, the following key benefits are offered for this full-time role:
