Biotechnology is rewriting life as we know it, from the medicines we take, to the crops we grow, the materials we wear, and the household goods that we rely on every day. But moving at the new speed of science requires better technology.

Benchling’s mission is to unlock the power of biotechnology. The world’s most innovative biotech companies use Benchling’s R&D Cloud to power the development of breakthrough products and accelerate time to milestone and market.

Come help us bring modern software to modern science.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Schemas team, which is core to our Data Platform, exists to scale Benchling's domain model to the diversity of concepts in our customers' science. By allowing our customers to introduce new domain models, which are natively integrated with our Platform, customers can directly augment and extend these domain models to represent their unique science. Schemes’ customers include both internal application developers and external customers.

As an engineering manager, you'll work closely with product and design (and our customers!) to define the team's vision and roadmap. You will lead the evolution of schemas platform to be a highly extensible and performant datastore that backs all data records in the Benchling Data Platform. We're particularly excited to hear from managers with a track record of obsessing over customer needs and product quality as they build their roadmaps and guide their team's execution. As a leader on this team, you should be passionate about the team's execution, balancing individual output alongside fostering a culture of accountability and execution excellence. You will partner with teams across platforms and Applications to ensure we're solving the right problems and making the right tradeoffs between leverage and time-to-value.
