ABOUT BOSWORTH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL
Bosworth Independent School is a relatively small school of approximately 300 students. OVERVIEW OF THE JOB
For the curriculum officer:
With direction from the Deputy Headmaster you will be responsible for the construction and maintenance of the School timetable, to include planning and responsive adaptation for the effective utilisation of School resources.
For the Assistant Examinations role:
Directly responsible to the Office Manager and with direction from the Examinations Officer you will support the planning, preparation, supervision and administration of the internal examinations and Public Examinations of internal candidates at Bosworth Independent School.
REPORTS TO
You will be directly responsible to the Office Manager. You will work within the framework set by and under the general direction of the Headmaster.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
The following gives a guide to the main tasks and the scope of the role. These aren’t exhaustive, and may vary where necessary to suit the skill set of the post holder and the needs of the School.
1. Curriculum Officer:
Working with the Headmaster and Deputy Headmaster to create and maintain the timetable for staff and students, rooms, classes, subjects and scheduled activities using the MIS. This will include:
Collating and inputting students subject choices pre arrival from Admissions and post arrival following academic counselling interviews
Produce staffing models for each intake point to identify class and staffing requirements
Assessing and monitoring trends in subject choices to identify required teaching staff
Liaise with the Headmaster and Deputy Headmaster to ensure teachers are recruited in good time
Creating and scheduling classes, allocating and changing staff and appropriate rooms to maintain efficient use of resources
Implementing changes to the timetable throughout the year
Communicating changes with all parties involved
Maintaining flexibility in the timetable to accommodate change
Closing classes and completing student enrolments at the end of the term/year
Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the timetable on a yearly basis and suggest improvements/changes based on subject choices trends & patterns and projected intake figures
Maintaining accurate student enrolments on the MIS pre and post arrival, pertaining to classes, subjects and scheduled activities including one to one sessions, revision, resit and surgery classes and additional learning support
Monitoring average class sizes and tutor utilisation statistics and making changes as necessary to ensure effective use of resources
Collaboratw with the Data Manager to set up report cycles and coordinate dispatch
2. Assistant Examinations Officer:
You must have an understanding of relevant IT systems and the School’s Exams Policy, in order to support the administration of external and internal examinations for internal candidates. As such you will:
Collaborate on internal Mock Exams, End of Year Examinations, and the November and Summer Public examination series including:
Coordinating with the Exams Officer, co-prepare the examination timetable and rooming and sharing with staff and candidates
Preparing seating plans for candidates
Prepare statements of entry and all required documentation (labels for dispatch of certificates etc)
Briefing all students on examination procedures
You will also:
Prepare invigilation timetables for all internal examinations including mock examinations and End of Year Exams
Enter data for all internal candidates on to the MIS
Be responsible for supporting Heads of Department with submission of coursework marks and samples to examination boards by the specified deadlines
Recording the despatch of internal School Statement of Results, IELTS Certificates and Certificates for University Foundation Programme Awards and all coursework / NEAs
Send out all examination certificates for internal and external candidates, track and record delivery
For Mock exams, check that all papers are present and run the mock series
Maintain electronic copies of all issued certificates and statement of results
With the Examinations Officer manage the arrangements for the issue of examination results to candidates and staff
Assist the Examinations Officer in preparing the results spreadsheet for the Senior Leadership Team on results day
Keep up to date with the requirements of the role, including the latest procedures and regulations for external examinations and attend relevant training courses
Undertake other duties in support of the Examinations Officer
To assist with setting up the examination hall and separate settings for special arrangements
