Job Description
A unique opportunity for you to utilise your STEM teaching experience on a short-term contract between between late June to the end of July 2025.
We have locations in Cambridge, London and Northampton to choose from.
Each summer, Stafford House Study Holidays welcomes thousands of young students from all over the world to learn English as part of a fun and educational study holiday. We are a leading provider in study holidays and are accredited by the British Council. This course focuses its lessons and excursions on STEM based topics.
It provides you with an opportunity to teach small class sizes (around 15-students) in a multi-cultural environment. You'll have fun delivering lectures, workshops and science-based English lessons, covering subjects such as a physics masterclass and will also feature guest lecturers. Potential Workshops include topics such as Build a Volcano, The Thermite Reaction and Cauliflower Cloning, Lego Robotics, Coding a "Raspberry Pi" to name a few. Students will also take part in practical lab-work demonstrations to put the theory into practice. English lessons will develop each of the four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as knowledge of scientific vocabulary and grammar necessary to present their final projects in appropriate English.
Students will visit destinations may include the Science Museum, National Space Centre or Bletchley Park - depending on location.
Our students (aged 14-17) will have an English proficiency of upper intermediate. Therefore, you do not need to be an EFL teacher for this contract but it is beneficial.
Locations: Cambridge, Central London & Northampton - Full-board accommodation may be provided on request
Dates: Month of July 2025
Hours: 15-30 hours per week over 5 days
Pay: £46.20 per hour (plus holiday entitlement) which includes preparation and marking
Essential:
You must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Biology, Chemistry or Physics
Educated to degree level in a science-related subject
Genuine interest in the teaching and welfare of young students
You must be available for the duration of the contract
You must already have the right to work in the UK
* Other TEFL qualifications may be acceptable if they have been validated by an external body, include a minimum of 6 hours of supervised teaching practice with genuine learners and 100 hours of input. Please note that one-day, weekend, online and distance learning courses are not considered equivalent.
Desirable:
Teachers should have a degree or equivalent and have Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert. TESOL *DELTA/ DipTESOL or equivalent MA qualification desirable
Experience of working in an EFL Summer School
Experience in an EAP teaching environment
Experience of working with young learners
