Our Student Welfare Officers for Transfers (SWOTs, as we like to call them) excel in providing a warm and friendly welcome to our students who join us each summer as they arrive to international London airports or train stations. They then continue to offer ongoing pastoral care and address well-being needs, ensuring every student feels safe, comfortable, and supported throughout their stay.
At Stafford House Study Holidays, we welcome over 6,000 students (ages 8-17) from overseas during the summer to help them improve their English. Students stay with us for 7-14 days at one of our seven fantastic school locations, taking part in a rich academic, activities and excursions programme.
In addition to providing pastoral and wellbeing care during our students' stay in residence, our SWOTs are confident in travelling to busy London airports and rail stations to welcome both groups and individual students.
Our students usually arrive at the weekend, and while their travel arrangements have already be pre-planned, your role will involve meeting and greeting them, assisting with any unexpected issues, and ensuring their smooth and safe transition to their connecting travel for their chosen school. Think of this role as the perfect blend of an airport representative and a house parent
Locations: Bournemouth, Cambridge, Central London, Uxbridge, Northampton, Canterbury and Oakham (famous for the Michael Owen Red Stars football school)
Contracts: Select a contract of 4-6 weeks, from 19th June to 10th August 2025 (25th August in Central London). You must be available for min 3 weeks in July, as this is our busiest period.
Hours: 48 hours per week over 6 days. As you will be providing wrap-around care for our students, it is necessary be residential for the duration of the contract. Good news as you don’t need to be local to our school locations to apply!
Full-board accommodation provided as you must be residential for this role
1st Aid Course as part of your training, prior to the programme starting and ongoing support throughout your contract duration

Pay: £586.08 per week plus holiday entitlement and full-board accommodation provided

Confidence, with a good understanding how to work professionally with young people. You’ll be supporting young students who visit us from overseas to learn English. You’ll be guided by your Welfare and Accommodation Manager and/or the Centre Director, and acting as their responsible adult, and/or support their Group Leader.
Travel to busy London airports and rail stations usually happen during weekends. (your travel is of course paid for when attending 'meet & greets'). The transfer and travel aspect builds just part of the role, predominantly caring for and supporting the welfare of our students. Please see the full Job Description.
Safeguarding is a big part of the job, and we take it very seriously. So, as you would expect, if successful we will facilitate an Enhanced DBS check as part of our safer recruitment policy
Administration. You will allocate the accommodation for and make plans to ensure that our overseas students’ needs are met, prior to arrival. You’ll also complete admin duties, such as logbooks and Health & Safety records.
Great Organisation. While here, you’ll manage the essential aspects of our students’ stay; ensuring they get to lessons on time, supervising mealtimes and working with their Group Leaders to support the smooth running of their stay.
Being Supportive. You’ll cover the duties of care for our students overnight, on a rota basis. Additionally, providing pastoral support to ensure their holistic well-being and welfare.
Be a great Communicator with a good level of spoken and written English.
Energetic. Working 48 hours per week over a 6-day week. This is a fully immersive working experience.
Responsibility. You’ll take part in pastoral care duties, including night-duties on a rotating basis
You must already have the right to work in the UK on a full-time basis (48 hours per week)
You must be available to attend a 1-day training session in London in June 2025
