Teacher of Mathematics (ideally to A-Level including Further Mathematics)
Full-time, permanent
This role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work as a member of the Mathematics


Department at Bosworth Independent School.

We share resources, assist one another, and run additional support sessions, to ensure every student receives the support and guidance they need. Our students also participate in UK
Maths Challenges, Inter-house and Inter-school competitions, and university entrance preparation for qualifications such as MAT and STEP.


The Mathematics Department follows the International Edexcel syllabus from KS3 through to KS4, with Edexcel A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics offered at KS5. We provide additional opportunities for students to extend their mathematical knowledge, including GCSE Further Mathematics as part of our
co-curricular programme. Our department also offers a range of extracurricular activities, such as Chess club, Programming with Python, Mahjong, Knitting, and Debating, ensuring that students can explore their interests beyond the classroom.


Our strong team spirit also extends beyond school, as we often meet up for social gatherings or simply to enjoy a game of cards outside of school.

Reports to
You will be directly responsible to the Head of Department. You will work within the framework set by and under the general direction of the Headmaster.


Main responsibilities of the job
As a teacher, you should carry out your role to support the needs of the students you work with and the school in general.


As a subject teacher, you will:
• Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students
• Promote good progress and outcomes by students
• Demonstrate strong subject and curriculum knowledge
• Plan and teach well-structured lessons based on departmental schemes of work
• Participate in arrangements for preparing students for external examinations
• Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all students
• Set and mark homework and class work promptly according to our School policy
• Make accurate and productive use of assessment
• Write high quality reports as required by our School policy on reporting to parents
• Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
• Develop and maintain classroom and other learning environments
• Ensure that School policies on student attendance are enforced


You will also:
• Act as Personal Tutor to a group of students
• Play a role in departmental planning and the development of resources
• Contribute to our School’s PSHE, and associated, programmes
• Contribute to the School’s university and School access programmes
• Contribute at least one enrichment/after school activity per week
• Support the School’s programme of trips and activities
• Participate in the School’s induction programmes for new students
• Support the School welfare team by ensuring concerns are communicated and acted on
• Play a full part in your own professional development and that of colleagues
• Attend appropriate meetings and in-service training programmes
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the School’s vision
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and others
• Fulfil wider professional responsibilities
• Participate in the School’s appraisal and performance management processes
• Undertake other appropriate tasks that the Headmaster may assign

Essential
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject.
• Understanding of the importance of
Safeguarding in schools, including familiarity with key policies and procedures.

Knowledge and Skills:
• Demonstrably strong subject knowledge in a relevant subject area.
• Excellent classroom management skills.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using technology for teaching and learning.
• Ability to assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
