Job Description

Due to the expansion of our CELTA teacher training school, we are excited to be seeking an experienced EFL Main Course Tutor (MCT) to deliver CELTA courses in Canterbury!

Based in our school, just 5-minute walk from the centre of Canterbury, we are easily accessible by public transport and offer free onsite parking.

Role Overview:

As CELTA Main Course Tutor (MCT), you will be welcomed into our friendly team in Canterbury. You will take overall responsibility for the delivery of the course, working closely with two other tutors to ensure a consistently high-quality trainee experience. You will be fully supported by our Teacher Training and Development Manager and Senior Leadership Team based in Canterbury.

You will plan and deliver input sessions, maintaining high academic standards and course consistency throughout the programme. The role includes responsibility for associated planning, marking, and administrative duties, as well as leading the overall delivery of our CELTA trainee courses.

Contract Details:

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:30am–5:30pm

Duration: 4 weeks per course on a sessional basis

Frequency: Expected 3 courses per year

Pay: £33.17 per hour (planning and administration included in rate)

What you’ll need to become a CELTA Trainer with Stafford House International:

  • First degree or equivalent

  • DELTA or equivalent Diploma is essential

  • Approved and Active Teacher Trainer status for CELTA/Cert TESOL

  • Experience of CELTA candidate selection

  • You must be willing to undergo our pre-employment checks. These will be detailed at interview.

  • Experience on three or more courses as this is an MCT role

  • Broad range of teaching experience, Exam courses, EAP, Business

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages

  • Proven organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills with good attention to detail and the ability to work well within a team
