In this highly strategic role, you will partner with executives and senior leaders both across the business and within the Engineering and Data org. As Chief of Staff reporting directly to the CTO, you will have from day one an immediate impact on our CTO’s productivity, streamlining strategic initiatives, and aligning objectives between teams. You will act as our CTO’s right hand.
You will be responsible for program management of large scale engineering initiatives, and some of the transformative innovations in Data and AI. Responsibilities:
- Strategic Partner: Work closely with the CTO to prioritize and manage key initiatives that align with the company’s strategic goals, providing critical support in decision-making processes.
- Program Management: Oversee and drive large-scale engineering projects and initiatives, ensuring they are executed efficiently, on time, and within scope and budget.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate and coordinate cross-departmental efforts, acting as a bridge between engineering teams and other organizational functions to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Communication Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external communications on behalf of the CTO, drafting reports, presentations, and correspondence.
- Operational Excellence: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the engineering operations and ensure alignment with industry best practices.
- Project Tracking: Develop and maintain tracking systems for program progress, risks, issues, and outcomes; provide regular updates to the CTO and executive leadership. Assist in goal setting, aligning, executing, and reporting on expected outcomes within the CRO org
- Resource Allocation: Assist in managing resource allocation, including budgeting and prioritization, to optimize the engineering department’s productivity and output.
- Performance Monitoring: Support the monitoring and evaluation of engineering team performance metrics and impact, offering insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, ensuring their needs and feedback are incorporated into engineering initiatives.
What you bring:
- 5+ years experience in a similar role, such as a program manager, project manager, or a senior engineering lead role within a technology company.
- 10+ years in project management methodologies and tools, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and execution, with a track record of driving large-scale initiatives from inception to completion.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to work collaboratively across functions and build consensus among diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and the capability to provide insights and recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred

At Checkr, we believe a hybrid work environment strengthens collaboration, drives innovation, and encourages connection. Our hub locations are Denver, CO, San Francisco, CA, and Santiago, Chile. We use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop ranges for our roles and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range. If this role is remote, we have listed the top to the bottom of the possible range, but we will specify the target range for an exact location when you are selected for a recruiting discussion. The base salary range for this role is $225,774 to $265,616 in San Francisco, CA.
