Clever is looking for an experienced Growth Marketing Manager to join our team and help accelerate the growth of our school district network. In this role you’ll own the channel strategy for deepening the engagement of schools on our platform, acquiring and activating new school districts, and strengthening our network effects between districts and edtech providers. This is a collaborative, cross-functional role that reports to the Head of Growth Marketing.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical and analytical background, as well as a passion to make an impact in the ed-tech space to improve the digital learning experience of millions of teachers and students.   • Set and execute the growth strategy for districts:
    • Understand the customer lifecycle for Clever’s core district administrator and school user audiences.
    • Segment customer data and extract insights in order to uncover opportunities to accelerate growth loops.
    • Define the thesis for district growth and set the experimentation roadmap for validating which levers drive impact.
    • Develop strategies to drive adoption and engagement of Clever’s products in more schools and school districts.
  • Own the district growth machine: Build lifecycle marketing programs designed to engage, nurture, and convert users with complex needs. Establish a rigorous optimization agenda to A/B test messaging, landing pages and user flows to improve performance.
  • Drive campaign excellence: Partner with product marketing, brand marketing, customer success, and sales to develop and launch high-impact integrated marketing campaigns that reach thousands of educators and administrators across multiple channels.
  • Channel owner: Work with marketing operations to manage relationships with platform vendors, and set a framework to validate and scale new marketing channels to add to our portfolio.
  • Contribute to product-led growth: Collaborate with product, engineering, and design teams on ways to improve our onboarding and activation flows.
  • Reporting and analysis: maintain a clear line of sight on business impact driven by growth marketing programs. Define and set goals for improvement on core growth metrics.


  • 5 years marketing experience in a hands-on growth or lifecycle marketing role, preferably with a SaaS company.
  • Results oriented: you have a deep understanding of growth marketing tactics and employ a test-and-learn approach to achieving outcomes. You’ve demonstrated success having directly managed user activation, engagement, and retention programs.

Customer-centric mindset: empathy for customer needs is central to your marketing philosophy, and you’re a fierce user advocate.

  • Technical problem solver: you have extensive experience with marketing automation and customer engagement platforms (e.g. Braze, Iterable), and familiarity with Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform. You rapidly learn and adopt new marketing technologies.
  • Excellent communicator: you’re comfortable editing and writing effective copy for conversion and creative optimization.
  • Natural data-storyteller: you possess exceptional analytical skills - advanced spreadsheet and data visualization skills required; experience with SQL a plus.
  • Passionate about secure digital learning: you bring a strong interest in edtech, an affinity for audacious goals, and a creativity in tackling business opportunities
  • Collaborative cross-functional leader: you have experience setting goals on large complex projects and coordinating across diverse teams.

  • Knowledge of performance marketing, social media marketing, account-based marketing (ABM), and SEO fundamentals

The range of our base salary cash compensation for this role for candidates living in the United States, besides NYC and San Francisco, CA, is between $107,100 - $152,100. For candidates living in NYC and San Francisco, CA is between $117,800 - $167,300. All final offers are determined using multiple factors including experience and level of expertise.
