Security Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Security Analyst will be part of a multi-person cybersecurity team responsible for the information
security of Collegis Education and its partnering institutions technology systems. Security analysts play a
crucial role in protecting sensitive information and ensuring the security of systems and networks. Along
with their technical expertise, they must uphold high ethical standards to maintain trust and integrity
within the organization. This role will be empowered to break down silos and help cybersecurity objectives
and compliance. This technical role requires analytical problem-solving skills and a continuous learning
mindset. This position will work closely with all areas of Collegis and its institutional partners.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES, ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Communication and Collaboration:
- Interfacing with various stakeholders such as IT peers, leadership, and partners to design and
- improve cybersecurity.
- Collaborating with departmental leaders to manage security ownership and maintain
- organizational security posture.
- Investigating alerts, anomalies, and security incidents.
- Security Assessment and Risk Management:
- Conducting risk assessments on environments, systems, and applications.
- Maintaining and utilizing security monitoring and vulnerability management tools.
- Enacting security improvements based on best practices, compliance, and risk.
- Staying updated on the current threat landscape.
- Security Awareness and Policy Enforcement:
- Developing security awareness materials for employees and customers.
- Adhering to and enforcing information security policies.
- Reducing the risk of data misuse through data stewardship.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Reviewing high-level design documents and SOC 2 audit reports.
- Managing security ownership and process change.
- Driving resolution of escalated security issues or escalating them further.
- Acting as a data steward for applications being administered.
- EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ or more years of cybersecurity related experience in security analysis, incident response, or
- vulnerability management. Experience with specific security tools and technologies is often
- preferred.
- Knowledge of information security standards and best practices.
- Good knowledge of associated regulatory compliance requirements for institutions.
- Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to respond to security incidents.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science
- Security-related certifications (e.g. CompTIA Security+, EC-Council Certified Hacker, or CISM
- (Certified Information Security Manager)) are desirable
Remote/Hybrid Policy: This role offers the flexibility of a fully remote environment. However, in alignment with our commitment to collaboration and team engagement, candidates within a 60-mile radius of our Chicago, IL headquarters will be expected to follow a hybrid schedule, working onsite 2-3 days per week to support in-person connection and cross-functional partnership.
