Director, Product Management

We are seeking a talented, passionate, and highly entrepreneurial team player to take on a Product Management role driving the engineering team to support growth of our EAB products. Serving today’s end users, while meeting the expanding needs of our growing client-based, this manager will work closely with creative engineers to help design and develop technologies that improve the Education industry.

This role reports to the Managing Director, Product as part of the Marketing and Enrollment Solutions team; the successful candidate may work in Richmond, VA; or Washington, D.C.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Team Leadership: Partner with Managing Director to lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of product managers. Foster a culture of excellence, transparency, collaboration, and open communication. Directly manage a team of 1-3 product managers, providing career development opportunities to maximize individual and team potential.

· Strategic Planning: Drive quarterly planning for the business line, ensuring alignment on high-impact initiatives. Collaborate closely with the Managing Director and VPs to prioritize business goals and allocate resources effectively and to inform longer-term strategic plans.

· Roadmap Transparency: Maintain and enhance transparency around product roadmaps, detailing progress, roadblocks, and outcomes to keep stakeholders informed and aligned. Make data-driven prioritization decisions.

· End-to-End Project Leadership: Lead and oversee complex initiatives and projects from ideation to development to rollout, adoption, and iteration, ensuring business objectives are met.

· Autonomous Execution: Take high-level ideas or basic information about business needs and, with minimal guidance, develop and execute actionable plans in a timely and effective manner, delivering impactful results.

· Product Rollout & Adoption: Ensure the successful release and adoption of products and feature enhancements, focusing primarily on internal-facing software enhancements, working closely with cross-functional teams to establish new processes and deliver impactful results.

· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build and strengthen professional networks to work effectively across teams and functions, including engineering, data, analytics, marketing strategy, and partner success teams.

· Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the subject matter expert for systems within the product team’s scope, providing insights and guidance on cross-departmental initiatives, specifically in the realm of marketing strategy, hyper-personalization and AI. At times, act as a cross-functional advisor by supporting partner-specific initiatives, pilots and proofs of concept, defining processes and responsibilities for roles outside the product team, and making decisions that extend beyond traditional product management to drive organizational alignment and success.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 6+ years professional experience in product management or product development
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently while meeting critical milestones
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues
  • Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, including coaching and development


Ideal Qualifications:

  • Experience leading a team of product managers within a start-up environment
  • Prior experience managing technology-based products serving Higher Education industries
  • Experience with email marketing, personalization, and/or AI
  • Experience using Productboard to build roadmaps and communicate with stakeholders
  • Thrives in working with ambiguity and changing direction quickly
  • Demonstrated passion for clear, thorough and well-organized documentation
  • Certification in an Agile, Scrum or Product Management Framework (e.g. Pragmatic Marketing)

Compensation:

The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $115,000 - $135,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not be limited to relevant experience, skills, and location. At EAB, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the starting salary range for their role.

This hire will additionally be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
