Position Overview:
We seek an innovative Director of Marketing Strategy to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies for university and college clients. This role requires a strong leader and independent thinker with proven abilities to lead marketing strategy, brand activation, and organizational audits. The Director of Marketing Strategy will have a blend of creativity, analytical skills, and the maturity to collaborate seamlessly with clients and colleagues.
The Director of Marketing Strategy will leverage branding principles to drive revenue through effective marketing strategy. The Director will also be assigned interim leadership roles at universities and colleges where they will serve as the vice president and/or chief marketing officer for a designated period of time.
Responsibilities
- Lead the activation of brand strategy for universities and colleges using multiple marketing initiatives designed to resonate with primary audiences, create memorable interactions to build brand reputation, increase student engagement, and drive revenue and fundraising goals.
- Manage and oversee brand roll-out implementations, coordinating with internal colleagues and clients to ensure timely and effective application of the roll-outs.
- Create and direct innovative marketing strategies and plans tailored to each client's unique needs while aligning with institutional mission, vision, and values.
- Conduct organizational audits to assess current practices, identify gaps, and make recommendations to enhance brand visibility and effectiveness by building high-performing marketing and communications teams.
- Serve as a fractional chief marketing and communications officer, providing high-level strategic guidance and oversight as needed.
Qualifications
Required skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Ten years of experience in marketing strategy development.
- Proven experience building marketing strategies and rolling out elements of a brand strategy. conducting marketing audits and brand strategy development.
- Strong analytical skills, including interpreting data to make informed decisions.
- Experience overseeing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly to members of university and college leadership teams.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with clients and team members to collaborate and ensure cohesive marketing and branding efforts.
- Familiarity with digital marketing tools, analytics platforms, and marketing trends in higher education.
