Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm (40–45 hrs/week)

Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days remote after training)

Position Summary

The Payroll Manager will oversee and supervise all payroll functions for the organization, working closely with the Finance Director and Payroll Supervisors. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring leadership, technical payroll expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the Payroll Department’s growth and future development.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce payroll policies and departmental standards.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal payroll regulations.
  • Oversee payroll supervisors, team leads, and specialists; handle hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Conduct weekly/biweekly meetings with team leads and quarterly meetings with the payroll team.
  • Audit payroll on a weekly basis to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all payroll-related functions, including absence management systems (Aesop, ReadySub, Red Rover, SmartFind).
  • Support administrative and specialty payroll duties.
  • Analyze payroll data and provide reports as needed.
  • Manage pay rate adjustments and maintain tracking spreadsheets for new employee types and pay increases.
  • Process district payroll as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience hiring, managing, and developing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, systems, and compliance.
  • Ability to adapt to changing systems and regulations.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel formulas and data analysis preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
