Role and Responsibilities

As the Facilities Manager, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our international language campus. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Opening and closing the school as needed, sharing emergency duty on a rota basis.
  • Managing one Facilities Coordinator and full time cleaner.
  • Providing support for maintenance and cleaning issues, including coordination with cleaners and contractors.
  • Taking pride in the appearance of the school and campus, ensuring buildings are customer-friendly and fit for purpose.
  • Prioritizing health and safety, meeting accrediting body criteria, and conducting routine building checks.
  • Liaising with external maintenance contractors, managing maintenance stock, and performing decorating and paintwork as required.
  • Conducting safety checks, risk assessments, and acting as the designated Fire Officer and Health & Safety Officer.
  • Ensuring classrooms and common areas are appropriately furnished and well-maintained.
  • Managing maintenance issues, promptly addressing repairs, and monitoring school courtyard and social areas.
  • Handling student inquiries and requests as required.
  • Troubleshooting routine software and hardware problems for staff and students.
  • Ensuring excellent IT provision throughout the school and residence, collaborating with the Global IT department when necessary.
  • Ensure that school’s budgetary targets for facilities and maintenance costs are met
  • Manage invoicing and timely payments to all EF’s suppliers related to the building.
  • Review suppliers/contractors on a minimum annual basis to ensure that services are being correctly carried out and competitively priced.
  • Responsible for budgeting, maintaining supplies, keeping supplies accessible and tidy, sourcing best buys.
  • Maintain careful records of quotes, orders and invoices.
  • Creating and reviewing risk assessments; ensure all external risk assessments are in place and updated.
  • Control and check the running of site server rooms.
  • Perform 24-hour rota emergency duties and available to attend site for out of hours emergencies as required.

Requirements

  • Highly motivated, proactive and positive, creative & energetic with lots of common sense as key.
  • Ability to work independently with strong decision making skills.
  • Confident with general maintenance and IT issues with a hands-on approach.
  • Previous experience of and/or training in Health and Safety.
  • Basic skills in plumbing, decorating, garden & grounds maintenance, furniture assembly, general building work & DIY desired.
  • Enjoys working in busy & varied environment.
  • Organised with attention to detail.
  • Customer service minded and quality oriented.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with ease & remain calm & positive under pressure.
  • Excellent communication & people skills.
  • Flexible attitude to work and creative problem solver.
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK.
  • Clean DBS check and two references required.
