The Role

As a Frontend Engineer at EF, you’ll build and enhance user-facing features for our EdTech platforms, serving millions of learners globally. You’ll create responsive, intuitive interfaces, collaborate closely with designers and backend engineers, and take responsibility for code quality, performance, and maintainability.

You’ll make pragmatic use of modern developer tools, with a strong emphasis on AI-assisted coding tools, to improve development speed, code quality, and clarity. We value engineers who move quickly without lowering standards, and who apply AI tools deliberately, critically, and responsibly.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-quality, accessible frontend features
• Write clean, well-structured TypeScript with appropriate testing
• Collaborate with designers to deliver polished UI/UX
• Optimise frontend performance and reliability
• Review and improve code written by both humans and tooling
• Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to accelerate routine work, refactors, and iteration
• Ensure AI-assisted output meets EF’s standards for correctness, security, and maintainability

Skills and Experience

Required

• 3+ years building production frontend applications
• Experience with Angular
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript
• Solid understanding of UI/UX principles and web performance
• Experience with automated testing (e.g. Jest, Vitest)
• Strong code review and debugging skills
• Comfort using modern developer tooling, including AI-assisted coding tools, as part of a professional workflow

Desirable

• Deep experience with React and TypeScript build systems
• Experience with React
• Experience with large refactors or legacy modernisation
• Familiarity with using AI tools for code generation, refactoring, or test scaffolding
• Awareness of the limitations of AI-generated code and how to validate it
• Experience with AWS, Cloudflare, or frontend infrastructure
• Familiarity with Storybook or design systems
