The Role
EF Treasury is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Treasury Payments Analyst to join our team in Malta. This is a high-impact role at the heart of our financial operations, where you will contribute to the transformation and optimization of our Treasury infrastructure while ensuring the highest standards of payment accuracy, compliance, and control.
You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders across Finance and Operations to support the implementation of our Treasury Management System (TMS), manage payment workflows, and deliver actionable cash flow insights. Key Responsibilities
Payment Screening & Signing
- Review, screen, and authorize outgoing payments in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Perform sanction screening and fraud prevention checks on payment instructions.
- Maintain accurate and complete payment records for audit and reporting purposes.
- Investigate payment rejections and coordinate with business stakeholders
Cash Forecasting
- Prepare and maintain short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts across multiple currencies and entities.
- Reconcile forecast versus actual positions and provide variance analysis to senior management.
- Continuously improve forecasting models and data quality.
Intercompany Financing
- Manage intercompany liquidity flows as per netting cycles and cash pooling arrangements.
- Monitor and approve settlement of intercompany positions
FX Management
- Monitor foreign exchange exposures and execute FX transactions in line with the company’s cash needs
- Prepare FX exposure reports.
Bank Relationship Management
- Serve as a key point of contact for banking partners, maintaining and developing strong day-to-day relationships.
- Monitor bank service quality and escalate issues where service levels are not met.
Treasury Controls Design
- Contribute to the design, documentation, and implementation of Treasury internal controls.
- Perform regular control testing and support internal and external audit reviews.
- Identify control weaknesses and propose remediation plans.
Compliance with Regulatory Requirements
- Ensure all Treasury activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Stay current with regulatory developments (e.g., AML, KYC, EMIR) that may impact Treasury operations.
TMS Implementation
- Actively participate in the rollout and configuration of the Treasury Management System (TMS).
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT), training, and change management activities.
Process Mapping & Onboarding – Ad hoc, until end of implementation
- Document and map end-to-end treasury payment processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate the onboarding of new entities, banking partners, and payment channels into existing Treasury workflows.
The Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; CTP, ACT or equivalent Treasury certification is a strong plus.
- 1–3 years of experience in Corporate Treasury, Payments, or Financial Operations.
- Proven hands-on experience with TMS platforms (ideally Kyriba) and ERP systems is a plus.
- Solid understanding of payment instruments, SWIFT messaging, and banking connectivity is a strong plus.
- Experience with cash pooling and intercompany financing structures is a plus.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex topics clearly to non-Treasury stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modelling and data analysis; experience with BI tools is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, international environment.
- Collaborative mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented attitude.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
