Job Overview:

Senior science test developers are key members of the staff as they have experience in the field and can share that knowledge with others and are able to take on complex tasks with a high level of independence. This individual will report to a Manager or Senior Manager of Test Development

Job Responsibilities:

  • Uses state item specifications to write effective items for different projects.

  • Develops and delivers professional development training for a unit or units, as needed

  • Directs grade-level leads in the development of an item pool for a state as a content lead for a project

  • Independently conducts preliminary, content review 1, and content review 2 reviews for all projects

  • Participates in standard setting meetings as the content expert

  • Lead item development for grade level, grade band, or content area, independently

  • Writes, reviews, and finalizes blueprints and translates them into an effective item pool development plan

  • Manage schedules and oversee quality of content development for a team

  • Leads group reviews and independently conducts preliminary, content review 1, and content review 2 reviews for all projects.

  • Oversees and leads CAC meetings, rubric validation meetings, range finding meetings, and data review meetings

  • Manage item development for all content areas on small projects

  • Has independent client interactions

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Science

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7 to 11 years of experience in assessment or education related fields or a Master’s degree with 5 to 10 years of experience in assessment or education related fields

  • Knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)

  • Strong knowledge and experience with the U.S. Education and Education Assessment is required

  • Analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to identify problems and conceptualize solutions

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Skilled at collaboration

  • Required travel for this position ranges from 1 week to 6 weeks per year

  • Candidates should be able to travel from 2-5 days at a time
