The Team and the opportunity

Our SAP practice is experiencing an exciting period of growth. We are interested in hearing from experienced SAP professionals who would like to take their careers to the next level.

EY's global SAP practice now totals more than 26,000+ dedicated SAP professionals in over 150 countries and we are investing heavily in S/4HANA, Ariba, IBP, SuccessFactors, Concur, GTS, SCP, and other new SAP solutions. We are helping our clients to tackle their most difficult challenges by implementing SAP solutions that enable business transformation and deliver real value for our clients. We operate local and remote teams across multiple locations, we design and build global solutions with variations to meet local requirements and we deploy these in ways that maximize value for our clients.

Amongst a variety of exciting career opportunities available within our SAP practice in Ireland, we are seeking an experienced SAP Basis Lead at Manager level for our SAP Managed Services (AMS) team. We are an SAP VAR and a SAP-certified PCoE (Partner Centre of Expertise). Our clients work across many different industries and are split between S/4HANA and ECC landscapes.

This is a hands-on role for a real technologist. We are building and expanding a primarily Irish based team working with our offshore teams to support our existing and new customers.

Your role will be focused primarily on

  • Managing the delivery of technical SAP services to our Technical Managed Service clients.
  • Working with the functional consultants and developers to deliver a premium seamless service to our clients
  • Delivery of projects outside the managed service, such as migrations, upgrades and re-platforming
  • Developing new and strengthening existing client relationships to grow the AMS service.

Your key responsibilities

ADVISORY

  • Must have a strong, demonstrated commitment to customer service and be committed to pro-active review of processes and procedures to continually enhance service quality, service delivery and support.
  • You should be capable of developing a future-proof Technical Architecture design document, including SAP Environment Strategy and Plan for, on-premise, Cloud hosted and RISE with SAP landscapes
  • Overview of compliance with security and regulatory requirements in all SAP implementations.
  • Capable of producing formal design governance papers on major technical architecture decisions and then presenting confidently on the same.
  • Expert advisor executing technical impact analysis of major changes of an existing SAP solution (opportunity studies, S/4HANA Roadmap, Cloud migration, SAP PaaS / SaaS services, etc.)
  • Critical client-facing role that interprets and translates client requirements into a technology solution that can be configured from a standard set of offerings.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to align SAP technical strategies with overall IT and business objectives

TECHNICAL SERVICE DELIVERY

  • Coordinate the support and maintenance of the multiple SAP instances that comprise the SAP environment (sandbox, development, test, and production) across the multiple client managed services contracts (TMS)
  • Design and implement an optimal SAP configuration to maximize system performance and availability.
  • Responsible for the delivery of technical services (Infrastructure, cloud hosting, SAP Basis, SAP Environment Planning & Management, Solution Manager, etc…) in support of the implementation of SAP solutions, both ECC and S/4HANA, for Irish and major global clients based out of Ireland.
  • Ensure the right procedures are in place for SLA delivery.
  • Manage on and offshore team responsible for monitoring all SAP systems (work processes, users, system logs, short dumps, locks, developer traces, system traces, disk space, etc.)
  • Supporting the basis delivery team – ensuring they can realise the technical landscape through a combination of direct involvement and mentoring.
  • Apply large scale SAP Technical experience (including BASIS, ABAP, Security, and Integration), providing clarity in the mitigation of the impact of the design on the clients existing solutions.
  • Understands key components of SAP Solution Manager and can configure as required, e.g. ITSM, Application Monitoring, CHARM, Focused Build, etc .

OTHER

  • Delivering compelling and confident presentations across client pursuits and external/internal events, building eminence.
  • Review and integrate application requirements, including functional, security, integration, performance, quality and operations requirements.

To qualify for the role, you ideally will have:

  • A Third level qualification in Business, Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in Technical Presales with Real-Life Solutions involving SAP Hardware Sizing and SAP Landscape Designing.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in leading SAP technical teams in a Consulting or similar external client facing environment.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) level knowledge and technical knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP Solution Manager
  • In-depth knowledge of SAP technical architecture, SAP Fiori, SAP HANA, and integration technologies.
  • Experience in HA and DR setup for HANA system and other databases.
  • Must demonstrate a complete understanding of SAP HANA, Basis and Public cloud Infrastructure principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Experience in SAP SaaS Solutions such as BTP, CPI, Ariba, SAC, BAS products are preferred.
  • Experience and deep understanding of SAP MDG, SAP BW - BOBJ, SAP GRC (AC/PC) and other SAP NetWeaver based solutions.
  • Experience with, or demonstrable understanding of SAP RISE, S/4HANA best practice processes, key benefits, and implementation scenarios.
  • Candidate must have strong problem-solving skills, be self-directed and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Strong ability to lead, mentor and motivate teams, adopting a collaborative and supportive approach.
  • Proven ability to build and leverage relationships with senior level clients.
  • Proven success in delivery of complex SAP programmes.
  • SAP, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform certifications preferred.
