EY Consulting – Transportation & Network Optimization - Senior Consultant
The opportunity

EY GDS is a global major in value-added Digital Supply Chain services for its clients. This is a rapidly growing area, so you will have plenty of opportunity to develop your skill set to keep up with the ever-growing demands of the digital landscape. Most of your time will be spent embedded with and leading Transportation Planning solutions, and we'll look to you to provide our clients with a unique business perspective on how they must continue to innovate and remain competitive in this ever-changing industry.


Your key responsibilities in this area, you will:

In the role of transportation planning consultant, you are responsible for working with customers and project team to understand the transportation network of the client and configure solutions that optimizes carriers, routes, and modes to reduce the overall transportation cost. You will lead EY, client and applicable software provider teams, as well as team with various EY groups with digital capabilities, to pursue and deliver digital engagements and deliver solutions that will bring our clients' digital vision and strategy to life.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Working and leading project teams through agreed-upon phases of project governance, requirements definition, vendor selection, risk analysis, customization, testing, training, and rollout of a client's project life cycle
  • Owning and collaborating with team members in developing applicable methodologies, tools, approaches, points of view, thought leadership and accelerators to differentiate EY in the digital and emerging technology consulting market
  • Providing broad technical and functional knowledge of various key technology and business platforms
  • Developing long-term relationships and networks both internally and externally
  • Interacting and communicating effectively with teammates, clients, stakeholders, and executives

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of related work experience and responsibilities delivering projects in supply chain management, logistics domain
  • Led and been responsible for transportation planning or network optimization with deep functional and domain expertise and hands-on experiences in configurations, training, knowledge transfer, customer communications and documentations
  • Knowledge of concepts, principles, and theories of scenario modelling & analysis preferably in transportation domain
  • Understanding of various modes of Transportation, i.e., Truck Load, Less Than Truck Load, Ocean, Air and Parcel and experience in optimizing cost
  • Worked on at least one to two logistics network modelling engagements in large and complex environments
  • Led and facilitated workshop sessions with clients and managed projects, resources and deliverables
  • Led and participated in:
    • Gathering business requirements
    • Analysing and transforming to application requirements
    • Performing fit-gap analysis
    • Leading Functional Design approval process
    • Interacting with the development team to test and deliver the solution
    • Leading solution demo sessions
    • Preparing and reviewing documentation


Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Engaging with business partners and IT to understand requirements from various parts of an organization to drive the design, programming execution, and UAT for future state capabilities within the platform
  • Excellent in Excel, Power BI or equivalent, and PowerPoint and experience of handling large data sets in terms of analysis
  • Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while managing multiple projects and strict deadlines
  • Certifications and prior consulting experience
