The opportunity
In the dynamic and competitive landscape of the insurance industry, our client faces the challenge of optimizing their operations to enhance customer satisfaction, streamline processes, and maintain regulatory compliance. There exists a significant opportunity to leverage advanced business analysis to identify inefficiencies, modernize legacy systems, and implement strategic solutions that align with the client's business objectives.
By engaging a skilled business analyst with specialized expertise in insurance and proficiency with industry-leading platforms like Guidewire, the client can expect to achieve a comprehensive understanding of their current state processes and technology utilization. This will enable the identification of key areas for improvement, such as policy administration, claims management, and customer engagement.
The business analyst will act as a catalyst for change, facilitating the adoption of best practices and innovative technologies that drive operational excellence. Through meticulous requirement gathering, process re-engineering, and the application of data-driven insights, the analyst will support the client in achieving a more agile and responsive business model.
Your key responsibilities
- Understanding and analysing business expectations and conducting workshops
- Conducting Gap Analysis and feasibility analysis during the project inception phase
- Preparing Business process flows and eliciting the business requirements and documenting comprehensive business requirements
- Collaborating with technical team to communicate and expound requirements and contributing to development of the requirements
- Conducting workshops with business
- Act as an Offshore SME and supporting the development and testing resources
- Creating training decks, whitepapers and Point of View documents
- Preparing business scenarios and supporting artifacts for the Testing Team
- Conducting Insurance Domain training and product training for external stakeholders
- Responding to RFPs/RFIs
- Preparing detailed process flows and demo scenarios
- Preparing marketing collateral materials like presentations and demo paths
- Create HLD and Architecture documents for different integrations touch points
- Assist in the facilitation of meetings between the IT and business stakeholders.
- Design and document business and IT processes and workflows
- Understanding the features, functions, and capabilities of packaged solutions in order to achieve proper business requirements alignment and adaptation to package as needed
- Participate in design sessions in prototyping new systems or enhancements
- Strong requirements gathering and documentation skills
- Analyse the impact of business requirements changes to the project
- Work with the business stakeholders to rationalize and prioritize the business requirements.
- Translate business requirements into software requirements specifications.
- Collaborate with the technical resources to ensure that the system design adequately reflects the business requirements.
- Support the creation of system test plans.
- Assist with system integration and user acceptance testing.
Skills and attributes for success
- Between 6 to 10 years of total experience as a Business Analyst
- At least 6 years of mandatory working experience in Guidewire ClaimCenter 9.0+ (must have)
- Strong functional knowledge in Guidewire platform features and capabilities
- Additional work experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter 9.0+ and/or Billing Center systems are nice to have
- Must be flexible to work in shifts (Rotational shifts including late evening shifts)
- Should possess good amount of experience in Analysis, Requirement gathering, Elicitation and testing.
- Good experience in developing high impact presentations (PPTs) for internal and external customers.
- Ability to conduct walkthroughs, workshops and meetings involving various business stakeholders.
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships, able to comfortably converse with all facets in the client's organization.
- Contribution in driving RFI / RFP and other proposal activities and building knowledge capsules and training decks and imparting training
- Excellent solution evaluation skills. Drive technology solutions from a holistic and business value perspective.
- Exposure/Experience in Agile SCRUM methodology
- Experience writing and reviewing business, user and non-functional/system level requirements/ user stories
- Experience in selecting and executing elicitation techniques such as Interviews, Exploratory Prototypes, Facilitated Workshops, Focus Groups, Observation, User Task Analysis, Documentation Study and Surveys and overall Process Re-engineering
- Solid understanding of the following requirements models: Context Diagram, Data Model, State Diagrams, Business Rules, Decision Tables, Process Maps, Use Cases, and Activity Diagrams (Knowledge in Unified Modelling Language –UML is a plus)
- Strong analytical & leadership skills
- Capable of critically evaluating the information gathered from multiple sources and understand the underlying business needs to be addressed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – must be able to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Bachelor’s degree preferably an Engineering degree (MBA preferred)
- 6 to 10 years of experience in business analysis or related discipline
Ideally, you’ll also have
- CBAP or Scrum certified Product Owner or Scrum Master certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with ITIL v2 or 3 would be advantageous

- Has successfully demonstrated domain of most skills and technologies during a large number of relevant projects
- Confidently uses most of the related skills and technologies, and maintains an in-depth knowledge of the area
- Has a deep understanding of the insurance industry, including the life cycle of insurance policies, claims processing, underwriting, and billing. Knowledge of property and casualty (P&C) insurance is particularly valuable for working with Guidewire products.
- Familiarity with Guidewire's suite of products, such as Guidewire PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, and BillingCenter. Experience with Guidewire Digital applications can also be beneficial.
- Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and methodologies like Agile and Waterfall. Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Java or Gosu (Guidewire's scripting language) is a plus.
- Skills in data analysis and the ability to generate reports and insights from data. Experience with SQL and reporting tools can be important.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex business challenges and provide effective solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders, including technical teams, business users, and executives. Ability to facilitate meetings and workshops.
