Flatiron School is seeking a fixed-term Cybersecurity Technical Coach to join our remote instructional team and support students as they progress through the curriculum. This role is perfect for someone who’s passionate about teaching, mentoring, and cheering students on as they navigate the exciting—and often challenging—world of cybersecurity.

As a contracted Technical Coach, you’ll work closely with both students and facilitators to provide thoughtful, timely academic support. This includes responding to student questions on our Discord Server, conducting 1:1 check-ins, guiding students through technical labs and assignments using incremental hints and strategic questioning, and collaborating with your team on effective interventions when students need extra help.

You’ll play a key role in helping students deepen their understanding of cybersecurity concepts, build problem-solving confidence, and stay motivated. Successful Technical Coaches not only have strong technical knowledge—they also know how to encourage, inspire, and meet learners where they are to help them keep moving forward.

Please note: This is a part time, fixed term contract opportunity. The contract will be from May 9th 2025-January 30th, 2026.

Schedule:

• Up to 29/hrs per week, as scheduled:
• • Monday & Tuesday: 9am-2pm EST
  • *Wednesday: 5pm-10pm EST
  • Friday: 1pm-5pm EST
  • Saturday: 5pm-10pm EST
  • Sunday: 1pm-5pm EST
• The program duration is 29 weeks long in total with a break between 11/17/2025-01/08/2026.

*Wednesday hours include a 1-hour live discussion session from 6–7 PM EST, hosted by the Cohort Facilitator during which you’ll be responsible for monitoring and supporting students in the chat.

Requirements:

• Availability to work up to 29/hrs per week, as scheduled (above).

Responsibilities:

• Conduct live 1:1 sessions to guide students through technical concepts and labs with kindness, clarity, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with facilitators to monitor student progress and contribute to effective remediation plans.
• Engage actively on Discord—answering questions, fostering discussion, and providing exceptional support.
• Contribute to weekly student reports to ensure we accurately document student progress and needs.
  Create a culture of encouragement, persistence, and collaboration through both individual and group interactions.
• Support real-time initiatives and troubleshoot new features or student-facing issues with flexibility and a solutions-oriented mindset.
• Communicate with professionalism and empathy, choosing the right tone and channel for every situation.
