Please note this role is a Fixed Term Contract Position for 7 months.

At FutureLearn, we’re passionate about the power of lifelong learning. We help learners from all over the world progress in their careers – and invest in their futures.

We truly believe that up-skilling is a worthy investment, and we hope to empower our learners to take control of their careers through personalised learning pathways – giving them progress at their fingertips.

Partnering with 260+ world-class educational partners, including prestigious universities, global brands and industry partners, we offer our 20 million-strong learner community the opportunity to discover and access flexible, high-quality online courses and degrees.

We’re not here just to teach new skills (although we do that well), we want to help transform lives. FutureLearn is looking to build our teams with people who share our passion for lifelong learning, career empowerment and education for all. If that sounds like you, get in touch. You could help us achieve our biggest goal yet – becoming the world’s best AI-powered, career-based learning platform and OPM.

What's the opportunity?

As a skilled copywriter, you’ll take course proposals from our course-creating partners and translate that content into search engine optimised, compelling, and action-driven copy. Your copy will help increase the visibility of our courses and help learners find the right course for them. Great copy gives learners confidence in their choice of course, and motivates them to enrol.

Your core task will be to create our Course Description Pages (CDPs). These pages act as shop windows for courses. You will make sure that our CDPs attract the right learners to the right courses, and do so in a competitive market. You will ensure that all pages are optimised for search, helping to increase our rankings and drive conversions when a user lands on a page.

You will work within a busy Marketing team with links to the Content team who are responsible for launching every course on the FutureLearn platform. You will work closely with the copy team and you will liaise daily with the wider Content team to ensure rollout of the CDP pages – from team processes to researching the courses to final publishing of content.

You do not need deep knowledge of the EdTech sector, but a passion for learning is important. You will have excellent written English and editing skills. An understanding of SEO is desirable but not essential.

You may be required to take on other copywriting and editing duties within the marketing team, such as blog posts and emails.

What you'll bring to the table

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with an eye for detail and an understanding of the special requirements of e-commerce
  • Proven experience of writing long-form copy with a preference towards e-commerce
  • You will be expected to join project management meetings, prioritise workload, and be hands-on and self initiated with your time management.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments with a customer focus
  • Organisational and planning skills, ideally within a team
  • Interest in education and learning methods and sectors
