Job Description

Educational Supervisor Grade 11 and 12

Role and Responsibilities:

  1. Academic Oversight:
    • Monitor and support the academic progress of students in Grades 11 and 12.
    • Ensure the effective delivery of the curriculum, providing guidance and resources to teachers where necessary.
    • Assist in planning and implementing strategies to improve student performance, including interventions for students who may be struggling.
  2. Student Support and Guidance:
    • Serve as a mentor and advisor to students, providing academic and emotional support.
    • Address student concerns and conflicts, fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.
    • Collaborate with counselors and other staff to support students' social, emotional, and academic development.
  3. Coordination and Communication:
    • Act as a liaison between students, parents, and staff to ensure clear communication of academic progress, school policies, and events.
    • Organize and facilitate meetings with parents and guardians, providing updates on student performance and behavior.
  4. Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and academic performance.
    • Assist in coordinating examinations, assessments, and other academic activities for Grades 11 and 12.
    • Participate in school committees and contribute to policy development and implementation.
  5. Extracurricular Engagement:
    • Encourage student participation in extracurricular activities, clubs, and events.
    • Oversee student involvement in leadership roles, community service, and other non-academic pursuits.
  6. Professional Development:
    • Stay updated with the latest educational practices, policies, and trends relevant to Grades 11 and 12.
    • Attend professional development sessions, workshops, and meetings as required.
  7. Behavioral Management:
    • Enforce school rules and regulations consistently, promoting a safe and disciplined learning environment.
    • Implement behavior management strategies and support students in developing positive behaviors.
  8. Examination and Career Guidance:
    • Assist students in preparing for external examinations, ensuring they meet all necessary requirements.
    • Provide guidance on university applications, career choices, and future academic pathways.
  9. Collaboration with Staff:
    • Work closely with teachers, counselors, and other staff to address student needs and create a supportive learning environment.
    • Participate in staff meetings, providing insights and feedback on student progress and school initiatives.

      • Ability to handle complex classroom situations, including behavioral management and conflict resolution.
      • Skills in strategic thinking and decision-making to develop and implement effective educational strategies.
      • High level of empathy and understanding of adolescent psychology.
      • Ability to manage student emotions, stress, and anxiety, particularly around exams and future planning.

      • Qualifications Required
      • Educational Background
      • A bachelor’s degree in education, or a relevant subject area.
      • A master’s degree in education, educational leadership, curriculum development, or a related field is preferred.
      • Teaching Certification
      • Valid teaching certification or license for secondary education, appropriate to the country or region of employment.
      • Additional certification in educational leadership or administration is an advantage.
      • ExperienceMinimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience at the high school level, preferably in Grades 11 and 12..
      • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role, such as department head, grade coordinator, or similar position.
      • Professional Development.
      • Completion of professional development courses or certifications in areas like educational leadership, curriculum design, assessment, or differentiated instruction.
      • Ability to mentor and guide students in academic performance, career choices, and personal development.
      • Experience in providing guidance on post-secondary education options and application processes.

      • Emotional Intelligence
        1. Knowledge of Educational Frameworks.Familiarity with educational standards and frameworks (e.g., Common Core, A-Level, IB, or local/national standards).
    • Strong knowledge of senior secondary curriculum, including subject-specific content for Grades 11 and 12.
