What you’ll do:

 

The Events Manager's role encompasses the comprehensive planning, execution, and oversight of national/regional customer-facing events, exhibits, and conferences. In this capacity, the Events Manager will collaborate effectively with both clients and internal teams to impeccably execute programs that align with established strategic objectives, timelines and goals. Additionally, the Events Manager will assume responsibility for the development of the budget for specific events and monitoring the overall outcomes of event participation. The Events Manager will be responsible for solving complex problems and identify innovative solutions. The Events manager will create digital sample experiences for HMH/Heinemann/ Solutions in the HMH CMS utilizing the approved template. The Events Manager will serve as a team leader on select projects.

 

Working in Events and Samples Team, the Events Manager will be responsible for the following primary duties:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to formulate comprehensive event strategies, optimizing staffing and financial resources to maximize attendee engagement efficiently.
  • Develop strategies for engaging attendees both during and after the event to enhance their overall experience.
  • Manage all aspects of conferences and events, overseeing logistics such as audience development programs, agenda planning, budget management, audiovisual needs, food & beverage coordination, accommodations, event-specific communications, signage, collateral materials, exhibit hall setup, booth design, registration, and speaker communications.
  • Effectively manage and develop conference and event budgets to ensure maximum profit margins are achieved.
  • Create and monitor project plans and timelines to ensure that events run smoothly and on schedule.
  • Supervise and lead multiple external vendors and contractors, including AV, production, and DMC services, required for the successful execution of conferences and events.
  • Establish, maintain, and oversee the conference and event registration site, and provide regular reports on its performance.
  • Introduce and leverage new event technologies and industry best practices to enhance business processes and functions.
  • Take responsibility for creating and implementing all attendee and client communications, ensuring a seamless and informative experience.
  • Develop and manage the overall customer and client experience, focusing on enhancing satisfaction and engagement.
  • Perform data analysis to monitor event progress and provide weekly updates to key stakeholders.
  • Schedule, train, and direct on-site staff for conferences and events to ensure smooth execution.
  • Develop and maintain Cvent event websites, conference apps, and online registration processes.
  • Collaborate on site selection, conduct site visits, and engage in contract negotiations with potential meeting locations.
  • Conduct post-conference feedback analysis to gather insights and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the creation of digital sampling sites utilizing the Content Management System (CMS) and FlipHTML.

 

What you’ll need: 

  • Minimum 7 year(s) of experience in marketing, hospitality or event management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and CMP or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree and CMP certification.
  • Technical:   Cvent suite.
  • Experience supervising team members and directing work of others
  • Experience in managing events with up to 1,000 attendees, event strategy creation and execution.
  • Understanding of Salesforce.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time and work long hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • People skills needed to lead cross-functional teams of product marketers, partner support, sales, and logistics staff.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at a time.

 

Preferred:

Experience working in hotel industry, helpful.
