InClassToday’s mission is to improve student outcomes by reducing absenteeism. A mounting body of research links absenteeism to lower academic performance, lower attainment of critical social and emotional skills, and lower high school graduation rates. Absenteeism is also tied to equity: students from low income districts are three times more likely to be chronically absent than their peers. Attendance rates across the US are tragically low, with 1 in 7 students more than 10% of school. InClassToday is changing this. We partner with school districts to provide personalized Absence Reports to parents and guardians that empower them with actionable information and are proven to increase the number of days students are in school. Developed by Harvard's Student Social Support R&D Lab and informed by behavioral insights, these reports reduce chronic absenteeism by 10-15% at a fraction of the cost of alternatives, by helping parents and guardians keep track of their student's absences, and keep the importance of attendance top of mind.
