Associate Marketing Manager, Portfolio Growth
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Associate Marketing Manager to drive key portfolio marketing initiatives and support growth in priority subject areas from China. This role will focus on interdisciplinary journal portfolios.
You will develop and implement marketing plans that drive article submissions, brand awareness, and author engagement. You will analyze the China researcher and author market to refine audience segmentation, design effective marketing campaigns across multiple channels, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals. This role also requires staying updated on industry trends and using data-driven insights to continuously optimize marketing effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Marketing Plan Development
Work with the team leader to develop marketing plans for key journal portfolios, fully aligned with China Research business goals. Define clear strategy, objectives, target audiences, tactics, and measurable KPIs related to article submissions, publications, and OA revenue. - Budget Management
Allocate and manage the marketing budget for campaigns under your oversight. Monitor expenses, track ROI, and make adjustments as needed to optimize budget utilization. - Author Event Delivery
Develop and execute author event plans (virtual and hybrid) to drive author engagement, key institution engagement, brand awareness, and OA impact. Events will contribute to researcher contact acquisition, marketing-influenced submissions, OA revenue, and journal brand visibility. - Social Media Management
Manage subject-focused WeChat accounts to drive visibility, brand impact, traffic, and conversions for key portfolios. Develop channel strategy and engagement plans; create, localize, and schedule high-quality content; monitor performance and trends; manage community interactions; build and operate owned social communities (e.g., discipline-specific WeChat groups); and plan follower growth campaigns. - Digital Campaign Delivery
Plan and execute precision digital campaigns targeting different author segments via email, search engines, and third-party platforms. Create and deliver targeted content to drive submissions, web traffic, and OA revenue. - Global Collaboration
Work closely with global key stakeholders to support China initiatives, ensuring results align with shared goals and business objectives. Establish workflows and communication mechanisms, share best practices and initiative plans regularly, and implement joint projects to meet predetermined targets. - Marketing Analytics & Reporting
Monitor, track, and analyze marketing campaign performance using relevant tools and metrics. Provide reports, presentations, and insights on key programs to ensure approaches are optimized and results continuously improve.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Master's degree (STEM preferred).
- 2–5 years of experience in the publishing industry or marketing.
- Solid understanding of marketing principles, including digital marketing, content marketing, social media marketing, event marketing, and branding.
- Demonstrated experience in managing successful marketing campaigns across various channels.
- Proficiency in using marketing tools and platforms, such as social media management tools, email marketing software, and content management systems.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive marketing content and deliver effective presentations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven mindset.
