The opportunity
The Penmen First Scholars Managers provide high-quality customer service to the Southern New Hampshire University community. General duties include seeking out and addressing the needs and desires of the first-generation student population and planning first-generation-specific programming. Employees must be willing, on occasion, to work flexible hours, late nights, and weekends. Our student employees are essential in helping us build community and support others finding a sense of belonging at SNHU, especially as our first-generation student population may not as easily make the connection. We look to hire students who are willing to lead either the programming or operations for the Penmen First Scholars program.
Manager Responsibilities:
Assist in the hiring, supervision, evaluating, and training of all First-Generation Catalyst staff.
Help with planning training for First-Generation Catalyst staff.
Generate spring programming calendar, and assign First-Generation Catalysts to each event for planning, marketing, set-up, execution, and clean-up.
Serve as an open line of communication between First-Generation Catalyst staff and the Davis Grant Principal Investigator.
Review and maintain written manuals for all procedures and policies.
Schedule and plan weekly First-Generation Catalyst staff meetings.
Meet with Davis Grant Principal Investigator on a bi-weekly basis.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Provide monthly programming specifically geared to the needs of first-generation college students.
Advertise monthly programs and first-generation specific items of interest to the campus population.
Manage First-Generation Catalyst staff, including daily job expectations and semester programming.
Perform other duties as assigned
Expectations:
Provide exceptional student service
Represent the Penmen First Scholars program in a positive light at all times, in class, on campus, in the Lounge, and at all SNHU-related activities.
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in difficult situations with little supervision.
Maintain a positive attitude during all shifts and be a role model for colleagues.
Arrive at all shifts on time and stay until the end of the shift.
Must be committed to creating and supporting an inclusive community.
Attend weekly meeting with supervisor and employee appreciation events.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a full-time enrolled student in an Undergraduate Day or Graduate Day Program.
Must be a current First-Gen Student Catalyst.
Must be able to climb stairs, sit, stoop, walk and carry 50 lbs. as needed.
This position is available for Work Study and non-Work Study students.

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
