Job Description

Guidance Counselor/Registrar (Student Success Coordinator)

A Student Success Coordinator (SSC) will provide assistance to the School Leader and/or Leadership Team with the administration of systems related to student credit attainment and progress towards graduation. The SSC furthers the mission of KIPP St. Louis by supporting a school culture that empowers students to develop the knowledge, skills, and character traits necessary to successfully obtain a high school diploma and then pursue a post-secondary pathway of choices.

Position Type: Full-time, Exempt, 12-months

On a day-to-day basis, you can look forward to the following:

Thought Partnership

  • Working collaboratively with the Academic Director, the Director of Regional Operations, and Data team to complete request and assigned needs

  • Working with the school leadership team, maintain confidentiality of student records

  • Member of the High School Enrollment Team

Graduation Requirements

  • Work with the school team to ensure 100% accurate reporting on grade, credit, and GPA data each year.

  • Provide quarterly reporting to the leadership team on student credit accumulation and identify students with missing credits or other issues that might put them at risk of delayed graduation.

  • Ensure students are scheduled in a way that maximizes their likelihood of graduating on time and on the appropriate diploma pathway.

Student Information and Data (Lead)

  • Scheduling students in Powerschools

  • Serves as school point-person for student schedules and course assignments, bi-weekly progress reports, report cards, and transcripts

  • Processes student information requests, including high school transcript delivery, incoming and outgoing records requests, and student enrichment programs

  • Sends requests for records for incoming students from prior schools

  • Maintains student cumulative records in accordance with federal and school-based policies, as well as audit guidelines

High School Specific Activities (Lead)

Scheduling

  • Manage the power scheduler process from beginning to end.

  • Ensure 100% of students have a schedule that meets their graduation plan needs by the first day of school.

  • Update schedules throughout the year as needed.

  • Perform regular audits on schedules to ensure accuracy.

Academic Progress Management

  • Serves as the lead to ensure 100% of students graduate from high school with an accurate, coherent, state compliant transcript that prepares students for college, military placement and/or career (CTE, where applicable and Advanced Placement).

    • includes electives, enrichment, credit recovery courses, and advanced placement courses (if applicable)

  • Conduct audit transcripts two times per year along with a committee of assigned school administration to ensure accuracy of scheduling and progress toward graduation requirements.

    • Work with the school team to ensure 100% accurate reporting on grade, credit, and GPA data each year.

    • Provide quarterly reporting to the leadership team on student credit accumulation and identify students with missing credits or other issues that might put them at risk of delayed graduation.

    • Ensure students are scheduled in a way that maximizes their likelihood of graduating on time and on the appropriate diploma pathway.

Additional duties within reason may be assigned; such duties must be considered as beneficial and impactful to the mission of the organization.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Apps

  • Ability to work independently and with a team

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and implementation skills. Always think multiple steps ahead.

  • Ability to manage ambiguity and multiple priorities inherent in fast-paced work environments

  • Ability to establish relationships and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholder

Qualifications

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree (REQUIRED)

  • Experience with managing and entering data with at least 95% accuracy; familiarity with data management systems (PowerSchool, KIPP STL Enrollment Software, School Messenger)

  • Experience working in nonprofit or education sectors with educationally underserved students

  • 2 or more years experience in a similar role
