The SLP will be responsible for serving students in grades K-10 within KIPP St. Louis’ five schools. This is a part time exempt position reporting to the Director of Student Support.

Job Description

Position Overview

KIPP St. Louis is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to become part of our vibrant educational community. This role may travel between our school locations and work with a variety of age groups.

Position type: Full-time or Part Time

Key Outcomes of the role…

  • Implement IEP goals for speech and language students.

  • Score a 90% or higher on compliance audit for special education

What you will do...

Under the leadership of the Director of Special Education, and in collaboration with School Leaders and Teachers, the Speech-Language Pathologist will use effective strategies to serve the needs of students with communication disorders at KIPP St. Louis. The position will include the following roles and responsibilities:

Planning and Oversight:

  • Determine and use procedures for referrals, identification, diagnosis, case termination and follow-up of Speech/Language Pathology students.

  • Establish daily schedules for assigned students according to service minutes established in the IEP.

Screening, Testing, Diagnosing and Advising

  • Perform initial evaluations and re-evaluations as required by federal, state, and district guidelines.

  • Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech-language services.

  • Determines the effects of the student’s impairment in regard to accessing the general curriculum

  • Utilize allocated coordination time to perform additional professional responsibilities including developing and updating therapy plans, holding parent conferences, staff consultations, and classroom observations.

  • Schedules interventions using a variety of service delivery models, including classroom intervention, consultation/collaboration, and pull-out as appropriate to meet student needs in the least restrictive environment

  • Consult and collaborate with members of students’ teams to monitor academic progress and

  • design/implement IEP accommodations/modifications.

Managing and Conducting Therapy

  • Develop and implement an IEP (and other supporting paperwork) for each student within mandated timelines

  • Attend and serve as a member of the IEP team to determine the eligibility of students

  • Complete progress reports for each student served.

  • Maintain an individual folder for each student that contains all forms required by federal and state mandates.

Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

  • Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology required

  • Missouri Speech and Language Pathology License required for the position

  • Experience in pediatrics/school-based speech and language therapy strongly preferred

  • Dedication to helping children grow and learn

  • A passion for working with students from underserved communities

  • Ability to take and quickly implement feedback
