Job Description

Position Overview
The Director of Operations in Residence is a one to two-year residency program designed to prepare aspiring Directors of Operations. As a Director of Operations (DOO), you would either be sustaining an existing KIPP Nashville school, or potentially opening a new school with KIPP Nashville.

The Residency provides a robust development process to prepare leaders to oversee the ongoing operations at a school in conjunction with the Head of School Operations and Chief Operating Officer, while under the direct leadership of a high-performing and seasoned Director of Operations. The Director of Operations in Residence is a full-time employee who is hired, supported and evaluated by both the school-based leadership of the Director of Operations and Principal alongside the regional leadership of the Head of School Operations and the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities of the Director of Operations in Residence will include, but are not limited to:

  • Residency Deliverables and School Immersion

    • Drive outcomes as a member of a successful school operations team

    • Engage in professional development and shadowing opportunities

    • Complete Residency roadmap

  • School-Wide Operational Systems, Events, & Communication

  • Attendance Strategy and Management

  • Student Information & Data Management

  • Technology and Assessment

  • Student Recruitment & Enrollment

  • School Operations Support

  • Transportation and Food Services

  • Finance

  • Building Management

  • Other

    • Participate in staff professional development in July as well as ongoing staff meetings and development opportunities.

    • Perform duties such as monitoring lunch, arrival, dismissal, covering classes, etc.

    • Carry out any additional daily school duties as decided upon by the Principal or Director of Operations

    • Ensure effective field lessons, school events, and extracurricular activities

    • Model school core values and character strengths at all times

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required)
  • Three or more years of work experience highly preferred

  • Experience in K-12 school operations strongly preferred; prior experience as a teacher a plus

  • Experience working with under-resourced communities, families, and/or students

  • Experience managing and influencing teams and individuals to meet specific and strategic outcomes

  • Proficiency in Spanish and/or Arabic (Preferred)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Google applications (Sheets, Docs, Google Drive), with the ability to quickly learn new technologies (Infinite Campus, Slack, video conferencing apps, etc.)

Additional Information

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience, and includes benefits. This position is exempt, and will work and be compensated according to a 12 month administrative schedule. Director of Operations in Residence participants receive a 3% stipend.

  • Robust benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance policy options. Application for these benefits may be made immediately upon employment. The policy is effective upon the first of the month following the first day of work.

  • The vacation package for salaried employees includes 29 paid days throughout the 12 month work schedule (including holidays, fall break, thanksgiving break, winter break). In addition, employees in this role are allotted 6 PTO days. Employees are allotted an additional 2 days after every 2 consecutive years of employment. Eligible staff members receive payment for unused PTO days at the end of the fiscal year.

  • Adoption/Parental Caregiver Leave- up to 10 weeks parental leave for the primary caregiver and 2 weeks parental leave for the secondary caregiver paid at 100%.

  • Leaders are provided with laptop computers with access to the internet and or email to assist them in performing their job responsibilities.
