ABOUT THE ROLE

KIPP Texas is hiring for School Leaders in all four regional locations, you will be asked for your preference as part of the application process:

School Leaders play a critical role in advancing KIPP Texas mission to create joyful, academically excellent schools. As a school leader you will set vision and direction in partnership with staff, students, and families to drive towards school improvement initiatives and KIPP Texas overall goals for healthy schools. You will manage, coach, and develop instructional, operational, and support staff to ensure all students have access to a positive learning community focused on preparing them with the skills to pursue the paths they choose - with a particular focus on building a college-going culture. In collaboration with regional leadership and state-wide departments you will leverage systems, supports, and processes to ensure that student enrollment, school operations, finances, and talent are sound. This is an ideal opportunity for a dynamic and visionary organizational leader with significant experience leading schools (particularly in transformation settings) to improve and become a premier campus marked by academic excellence and joy.

As a School Leader you will internalize and drive towards academic and culture-related goals in pursuit of supporting KIPP Texas Public Schools in meeting organizational goals;

  • 100% of KTX School achieve an A or B rating - TBD
  • 95% of K-2 students reading on grade level DIBELS
  • KTX earn 90/75/40 on Reading STAAR
  • KTX earn 90/75/40 on Math STAAR
  • 60% of seniors graduate having scored a 3+ on at least a AP/IB exam
  • 40% of 11th grade students score 21+ on the ACT
  • 80% of student matriculate to a 4-year college
  • 97% Average Daily Attendance
  • 100% BOY Enrollment by Day 10
  • 80% of Staff Retained

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead a team to successfully build a school of academic excellence and joy

  • Set ambitious school-wide vision and goals, aligned to state wide targets, that will lead to school improvement and put students on a path to and through college.
  • Create and execute school-wide plans to prioritize time and resources to achieve annual goals.
  • Champion KIPP TX core values and build a community of team and family members dedicated to achievement, inclusion and belongingness.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a school leadership team of Assistant Principals of Instructions, Assistant Principal of Operations, and other leadership staff.
  • Hire, supervise, coach, and retain instructional, and support staff at all levels across the schools.
  • Partner with state-wide departments to implement financial, operations, and talent systems and processes.
  • Cultivate a diverse, high-potential school leadership pipeline.

Act as the School’s Instructional Leader

  • Partner with KIPP TX’s Academic department and Head of Schools to translate KIPP TX’s academic strategy to drive towards school improvement and student academic success.
  • Develop staff’s capacity to internalize high quality instructional materials, including grade level standards, curriculum, assessments, and lessons.
  • Champion emerging bilinguals, students with IEPs and 504s to receive exceptional services and supports, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Cultivate staff to effectively deliver daily learning to drive student mastery.
  • Develop and deliver systems and processes to monitor student learning and teacher development.
  • Support staff to regularly collect and analyze student learning data in order to adjust instruction.
  • Observe and coach campus-based instructional leaders (Assistant Principals of Instruction, Grade level chairs, department chairs, etc) to ensure they are providing high-impact feedback to teachers.
  • Create and leverage mechanisms for teacher collaboration within and across grade levels and departments.
  • Lead whole-school professional learning to drive improvements in teacher practice.
  • Continuously engage in learning related to content, pedagogy, and instructional methods.

Foster a JoyFul School Culture

  • Partner with your Assistant Principal of Operations and the state-wide school operations department to design and implement a plan to cultivate, register, enroll, and onboard New to KIPP families.
  • Provide a college-going, joyful environment where students experience connection, belonging, and rigorous learning.
  • Maintain student enrollment to meet and exceed student enrollment targets.
  • Establish and implement school-wide systems to support strong daily attendance and partner with students, staff, and families to support and mitigate situations related to chronic absenteeism.
  • Leverage school-wide systems to develop a positive learning culture and establish strong rapport between staff and students and students and students.
  • Partner with students, teachers, administrators, and families to address breeches to school culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Texas Principal certification preferred
  • 3-5 years experience as a principal leading schools serving a similar student population to KIPP Texas; experience leading school improvement( preferred).
  • At least 2 years Assistant Principal or equivalent school-level leadership experience with a record of results of leading students to significant academic growth (required)
  • 2 years of teaching experience (required)
  • Demonstrated success leading teams to accelerate progress for students in transformation settings.

Additional Information

What We Bring to the Table

The starting point for the salary range for this position is $92,250 with the opportunity to earn more based on considered experience at an accredited K-12 institution and internal-equity.
