**WHO WE ARE

The second venture of Top Hat's co-founder (Top Hat is one of Toronto's top startups with +$70M revenue), Kritik is a venture-backed early-stage edtech startup with the mission to upgrade classroom experience with a fun and automated peer-to-peer learning technology. We have an established peer assessment product in use across 100's of universities and are now developing a brand new product! We are looking for mission-driven, smart and motivated developers who can solve technical challenges, help architect, deploy scalable infrastructure and deliver maintainable solutions in a Lean/Agile environment.

**WHERE ARE YOU RIGHT NOW

You are doing full stack development by hand and with agentic LLMs. You love what you do but you are seeking a more challenging environment. You have been either a team lead or individual contributor in a large product team and seen how different components of a complex architecture come together to deliver a product to +1M users. Now you are ready to be the senior member of a young and small team of 5 developers to practice putting many pieces together, help scale the technology and the team. While you like to be part of an early stage startup, you prefer one with high growth and sustainable business model.

It is important you feel comfortable with web development. But what’s more important is solid computer science fundamentals, knowing how to scale technology, passion, the ability to learn quickly, drive for professional growth and working collaboratively with a growing team.

**WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO KRITIK

• The right combination of education and experience. A solid understanding of software development either through a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a Technology related field, and 4-10 years of experience building software systems.
• The technical skills. You have comfort with most of the following:
• Web development technologies and tools: Node.js (TypeScript), and PostgreSQL
• Leveraging generative AI while coding and building AI features
• Web applications in React with leading libraries (react-router, tailwind, bun)
• Automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Designing and building scalable, fault-tolerant services

NICE TO HAVE
Experience working with AWS products and infrastructure
Comfortable with infrastructure-as-code with Terraform/OpenTofu
Experience working with Linux/Unix systems and open-source software
Experience with React-Native

Kritik is a fun gamified student-to-student interaction platform,
developed from a decade of research and experience in higher education
classrooms with Top Hat's active learning technology. Kritik is the first educational technology tool for professors to develop their students' critical thinking skills.
