The Role:
We are looking for a Dynamic Finance Assistant to join our Finance team to help support our mission to make learning captivating for all learners, everywhere!

About You:
You are someone who is analytical and detail-oriented. You don’t mind getting stuck into repetitive tasks and you are a self-starter who enjoys making improvements along the way. You are curious to learn about new systems and processes
You are confident with the basics of accounting and are keen to learn more. You’ve worked in a finance support role before and are comfortable with the fast-paced, ‘roll up your sleeves’ environment of a startup/SME. You can prioritise and manage your time effectively, and you understand the importance of deadlines.
You enjoy working with a diverse global team and are a confident communicator.
Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Verify and process supplier invoices in a timely manner.
- Ensure accurate coding and documentation.
- Prepare weekly payment runs
Accounts Receivable:
- Draft sales invoices accurately and in a timely manner based on closed deals or request from sales team
- Ensure that all relevant information, including contract details, product purchased, prices, and customer details, is accurately reflected on the invoices.
- Chase outstanding sales invoices and escalate to the team when assistance is needed
Bookkeeping and Record-Keeping:
- Reconcile bank statements on a daily basis for up to date and accurate reporting
- Maintain accurate financial records - Identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Record necessary journal entries to reflect accruals, prepayments, depreciation, payroll and other month-end adjustments
- Assist in preparing accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including the income statement & balance sheet.
- Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of the monthly management accounts
Expense Management:
- Assist in the processing of employee expenses
- Verify receipts and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Code and classify expenses based on predetermined categories and cost centres to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Reconcile expense reports to the Accounting system - Xero- to verify accuracy and completeness.
Ad Hoc Tasks:
- Monitoring of the finance email inbox and assisting with ad-hoc queries in a timely manner
- Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc financial reports, eg. department costs; customer/supplier statements
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve month-end closing processes for increased efficiency and accuracy.
- Support with the year end audit preparation.
- Contribute to process and system improvement initiatives within the Finance team
