Position Overview:
McGraw Hill is seeking an experienced Import and Export Specialist to manage and optimize international shipping processes, ensuring compliance with tariff laws, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role is critical to maintaining smooth operations across borders, with a focus on Latin America. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, knowledge of international documentation, and the ability to coordinate effectively with customs agents, carriers, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Import Management:
- Handle import requests and maintain communication with the distribution center in the United States.
- Monitor international shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate with customs agents, manage tariff payments, and oversee transportation logistics.
Export Management:
- Manage the international distribution and export of books across Latin America.
- Ensure compliance with export regulations and documentation requirements.
Customer Service:
- Communicate with carriers to coordinate package collection and shipments.
- Provide excellent service to internal and external customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
Route Coverage:
- Oversee shipments across Mexico and Latin America, utilizing air, maritime, and land transportation methods.
- Travel required 25% of time.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of international documentation and customs processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail to avoid penalties for errors.
- Effective communication and coordination skills.
- Familiarity with tariff laws and transportation logistics.
- Ensure compliance with international documentation and customs regulations to avoid penalties.
- Develop and optimize processes for working with customs agents and managing international shipments.
- Balance cost efficiency with timely delivery to meet customer expectations.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.
Experience:
2-4 years of professional experience in import/export operations, preferably in the publishing or logistics industry.
