About PrepMD

PrepMD is the premier cardiac healthcare solutions company, providing innovative technology and expert clinical services to device clinics across the United States. Our OMNI software suite is at the forefront of cardiac clinic management.

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer who can bridge application and infrastructure development across our OMNI platform. This person will contribute to Java Spring Boot service development, AWS infrastructure projects, Kubernetes operations, security hardening, and observability. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between Java code, Terraform, Helm, and front-end technologies and can help improve the reliability, security, maintainability, and performance of our cloud-native healthcare platform. You will work in a highly secure, HIPAA-compliant environment where performance, data integrity, and reliability are critical.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Spring Boot applications.
  • Build, maintain, and improve AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance, contribute to SOC 2 policies, and follow security best practices throughout the SDLC.
  • Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeArtifact, and ECR.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and system design in a cloud-based environment.
  • Improve observability, alerting, and operational visibility using DataDog, CloudWatch, and application health metrics.
  • Leverage AWS serverless technologies — Lambdas, SQS, and SNS — to streamline workflows.
  • Partner with backend engineers on multi-tenant service architecture and database scaling via Aurora.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, Product, and Clinical stakeholders.
  • Use AI-assisted tooling (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Codex) to accelerate development velocity and improve code quality.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and refactoring initiatives.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as business needs dictate.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software or platform engineering experience, with at least 2 years in cloud-native environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and Terraform.
  • Hands-on Kubernetes experience, preferably with EKS.
  • Proficiency with Java and Spring Boot services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA compliance and security best practices, including AWS IAM, SSM secrets management, IRSA policies, networking, and VPNs.
  • Experience with Liquibase, JPA, Hibernate, and similar technologies in the Spring Boot ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Cursor, Codex, Claude Code).
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field - or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience refactoring and modernizing Spring Boot applications.
  • Knowledge of design and refactoring patterns and best practices.
  • Experience designing or implementing features powered by AI or machine learning models.
  • Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular).
  • Familiarity with deploying and integrating ML models into production (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Vertex AI, or custom REST APIs).
  • Understanding of responsible AI principles, including explainability, fairness, and human-in-the-loop design.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary: $145,000 - $185,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer contributions after 1 year of employment
  • Generous PTO and Holiday Plan
