We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to enhance our team in the Intellectual Property (IP) group at Clarivate in Barcelona/Spain, a hub of innovation that includes the global leading patent intelligence portfolio.

This role offers the chance to contribute to the Innography patent search and analytics application, as well as to develop the application layer supporting new AI/ML search products.

If you're adept in JavaScript/TypeScript/NodeJS and driven by the creation of products that captivate users, we would love to speak with you.

About You – Experience, Education, Skills, and Accomplishments:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in building software applications that have reached the market.

  • 5+ years’ experience with JavaScript/TypeScript/NodeJS.

  • Experience with MySQL or other relational DataBases.

  • Experienced with cloud technologies (AWS preferred).

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering degree, or equivalent work experience

It would be great if you also had:

  • Experience in a Linux environment

  • Proficiency with AWS technologies (EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, RDS)

  • Expertise in developing complex User Interfaces with React

  • Skill in deploying applications using Docker containers.

  • Capability in writing unit tests and using Git version control.

  • Experience in deploying applications with CI/CD pipelines.

  • Collaborating with your agile team to create innovative solutions for complex business challenges.

  • Working closely with product management to deliver on the product roadmap.

  • Designing technical solutions with the development team for timely delivery

  • Committing to sprint goals both individually and as a team

  • Engaging in continuous learning and leading in software development practices

Product you will be developing:
You will play a crucial role in evolving the Innography product, a premier tool for IP data search and analysis. Your contributions will include maintaining existing features, introducing new functionalities, and integrating Innography with other Clarivate products. Additionally, you'll contribute to the development of new AI/ML-based search technologies aimed at novel use cases.

About the Team:
The Innography team comprises 10 developers, alongside QA and product teams, spread across Austin, TX, USA; Belgrade, Serbia; Barcelona; and India. We're expanding to support new product integrations and the development of solutions targeting fresh use cases. Our customer base is global, reflecting the wide-reaching impact of our work. your contributions will have a significant impact on the research and discovery processes of our users.

Hours of Work:
This is a permanent, full-time role. The team operates in a hybrid work model, blending office presence (2-3 times per week, in Barcelona Office) with the flexibility of remote work, tailored to foster collaboration and innovation.
