About the Opportunity

Ellucian is seeking to hire a highly motivated Senior Manager, Applications Management to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Certinia (formerly FinancialForce PSA) platform. In this dual role as a Product Owner and Business Partner, you will manage the existing Certinia platform (in collaboration with the existing Salesforce platform owner), ensuring it meets business needs while effectively handling product backlogs, prioritization, sprint planning, and overseeing Certinia platform administration. You will lead and mentor a team to drive improvements for platform enhancements and user experience. You will be accountable for optimizing the platform’s functionality and alignment with business goals while supporting ongoing issues in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Where you will make an impact

  • Platform Management & Ownership:
    • Serve as Product Owner for the Certinia platform, understanding business requirements, translating them into technical solutions, and managing the platform backlog.
    • Ensure the Certinia platform is continuously improving to meet business needs, including managing platform updates and patches, and evaluating new feature releases.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the Certinia platform delivers value and aligns with business priorities.
    • Manage day-to-day administration and monitor Certinia platform performance, handling user requests, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining system health.
  • Backlog & Prioritization:
    • Own the Certinia backlog, prioritize features, enhancements, and fixes based on business needs, user feedback, and available resources.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders, business teams, and IT to define priorities and schedule work based on strategic goals.
    • Define and communicate product roadmaps to stakeholders and align delivery with business expectations.
  • Sprint Planning & Agile Management:
    • Facilitate sprint planning, ensuring the team has clear objectives and deliverables.
    • Work closely with development teams to track progress, manage timelines, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
    • Use Agile methodologies to track and report on sprint outcomes, making adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines and business needs.
    • Review and adjust the product backlog during sprint retrospectives to ensure continuous improvement in process and delivery.
  • People & Team Management:
    • Lead a team of Certinia platform administrators, providing mentorship, coaching, and career development.
    • Create a positive and collaborative work environment, fostering teamwork and ensuring team members are engaged and motivated.
    • Handle performance evaluations, provide feedback, and drive professional development opportunities for team members.
    • Ensure that team responsibilities are clearly defined, and resource allocation is effectively managed to meet business goals.
  • Platform Support & Issue Resolution:
    • Oversee day-to-day Certinia platform support, responding to and resolving critical issues as they arise.
    • Collaborate with other departments to address platform-related issues and ensure timely resolution.
    • Maintain a proactive approach to identify potential issues before they impact users or business operations.
    • Oversee third-party Certinia support engagements: scope, schedule, and budget management.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Business Partnership:
    • Act as the key liaison between the Certinia platform team and business stakeholders, ensuring that expectations are properly managed and aligned with platform capabilities.
    • Regularly communicate with stakeholders on the progress of Certinia platform improvements, new features, and support resolution.
    • Gather feedback from business users to continually improve the platform and user experience.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
    • Monitor industry trends and leading practices to propose new ideas for platform improvements.
    • Drive innovation by suggesting and implementing new features, tools, or processes that enhance Certinia platform functionality or user experience.
    • Ensure Certinia platform stability, security, and scalability while supporting business growth and evolving needs.

What you will bring

  • Experience with Certinia platform administration and configuration management tools.
  • Certifications in Agile (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner) or relevant methodologies.
  • Experience working with Salesforce or similar cloud-based platforms.
  • Knowledge of the latest trends in ERP platforms and digital transformation.
  • Proven experience managing and supporting the Certinia (formerly FinancialForce PSA) platform or similar cloud-based ERP platforms.
  • At least 10 years of experience in platform management, product ownership, and business partnership roles.
  • 5+ years as an organizational and people leader
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, backlog management, and sprint planning.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage teams, foster collaboration, and drive results.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing requirements, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of professional services business and processes.
