We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Revenue Accountant to play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and scalability of our revenue operations. In this highly cross-functional position, you will apply deep knowledge of ASC 606 to evaluate complex customer contracts, support monthly close activities, and partner closely with Sales Ops, Product, FP&A, and other teams to drive clarity and compliance across our order-to-cash processes. This role is ideal for a proactive accounting professional with SaaS revenue expertise who thrives in dynamic environments, embraces process improvement, and is eager to help shape robust revenue policies, systems, and reporting as our business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Review material customer contracts and orders to determine appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606
- Perform monthly revenue close activities including:
- Revenue recognition, deferrals, and releases
- Reconciliations of deferred revenue, unbilled AR, and AR
- Journal entries and flux analysis
- Partner with Sales Ops on complex deal structures
- Collaborate with Product on new offerings to determine proper revenue treatment
- Support billing accuracy and order-to-cash process integrity
- Maintain and improve revenue accounting policies and procedures
- Assist with external audits related to revenue and billing
- Support system implementations or enhancements (ERP, billing, revenue automation tools)
- Participate in the research and preparation of technical accounting memos related to revenue recognition and associated accounting items (deferred commissions, etc.)
- Prepare revenue reporting (ARR, bookings, churn) and support FP&A forecasting and analysis
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and scalability
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA or CPA-eligible strongly preferred)
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with direct SaaS revenue accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of ASC 606
- Experience with subscription billing models, renewals, and amendments
- Proficiency with ERP systems and billing/revenue tools (NetSuite)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation abilities
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical partners
