THE OPPORTUNITY
The Vice President of Academic Planning and Solution Development will be responsible for driving and supporting quarterly and annual Education revenue goals. The role is a key leader that will oversee a team of literacy specialists charged with supporting field sales in driving revenue through solution selling activities. This person must have extensive literacy content knowledge in order to support the team in positioning Scholastic’s literacy solutions, as well as make priority recommendations to ensure self-sustaining literacy achievement within school districts, state partnership organizations, and communities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and oversee a team that supports the development of systemic comprehensive literacy plans and literacy frameworks (e.g., content knowledge of balanced literacy/Science of Reading, knowledge and use of literacy and implementation data, identification of key instructional best practices);
Collaborate with SVP, RVP, RD’s and AE’s on identified key strategic accounts to drive significant revenue.
Exceed established annual revenue targets.
Support, whenever and wherever as requested by Field Sales, in the selling process from exploring through implementation, and relationship development.
Present solution specific and data leveraged presentations to key district leaders and stakeholders.
Create customized solutions to meet multi-tiered needs of district partners.
Share expert literacy content knowledge in developing key messaging that uncovers district and partner needs in order to drive revenue.
Act as an instructional advisor and direct support for Scholastic Account Executives and Regional Directors.
Promote understanding of the instructional value of Scholastic literacy solutions and its use.
Maintain highest degree of expertise in literacy instruction and Scholastic solution knowledge.
Maximize grant opportunities to grow revenue in key accounts.
Support district level administrators in building content knowledge and literacy leadership skills.
Revitalize and re-engage district partners in key accounts.
Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with existing and potential partners.
Help with the design and format for various territory events to maximize their effectiveness. This would include an impactful strategy for recruiting customers to the event as well as a follow up strategy.
Assist marketing with the development of sales tools AEs can utilize to better position our print, digital, and professional development solutions.
Roles for the Job:
Think strategically with SVP, RVP, RD’s and AE’s to determine territory needs in order to build multi-tier literacy solutions leveraging Scholastic Education products and services.
Dynamically present solutions to multiple decision makers within school districts and partnership organizations.
Demonstrate experience with deep understanding of data related to student achievement and how to discuss/present that data in relation to Scholastic Education solutions.
Support with the development of skills of regional Account Executives and RD.
Collaborate with National Literacy Initiatives team, research team, marketing, and publishing to strategically align custom systemic literacy solutions to drive large revenue opportunities (leverage Literacy Roundtable and Lighthouse visits, current research/efficacy, etc.).

Qualifications
HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)
Position Requirements:
Master’s degree in education or business (Ph.D. or Ed.D. Preferred)
Previous education consulting experience working with Superintendents and cabinet level administrators.
5 years previous experience at K12 district administration level role, cabinet level is preferred.
Previous leadership and managerial experience
Deep demonstrated domain expertise and a proven track record in areas such as literacy instruction, curriculum development, education leadership, instructional leadership, strategic planning, educational finance and/or project management.
Expertise with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Superior written, interpersonal and group presentation communication skills.
Acceptable driving record required.
Preferred:
Relevant graduate degree, Ph.D. or Ed.D. degree preferred.
Prior teaching and/or administrative experience preferred.
Previous K12 cabinet level role preferred.
Analytical & data analysis skills preferred.
Knowledge of Scholastic programs and services preferred.
