Lead Corporate Project Accountant

📍 Metro Detroit | Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote) | Global Manufacturing

We’re partnered with a large, international organization seeking a Lead Corporate Project Accountant to join its corporate finance group. This newly created position offers the opportunity to take ownership of high-impact finance projects and integration initiatives at the global level.

This role blends technical accounting expertise, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration, making it ideal for someone with a strong GAAP/IFRS foundation and an interest in driving process improvements and corporate transformations.

About the Role

The Lead Corporate Project Accountant will work closely with corporate finance leadership and international counterparts to manage complex accounting projects, integration activities, and strategic initiatives tied to future growth and organizational readiness. The position will also support recurring corporate reporting responsibilities and process improvement efforts across multiple entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute finance and integration projects, collaborating with global and regional teams.
  • Align accounting policies and procedures across multiple business units, including areas such as consolidation, intercompany eliminations, and foreign currency remeasurement.
  • Support the enhancement of plant-level accounting and reporting processes while addressing technical accounting matters.
  • Partner on system-related initiatives, including upgrades and implementations of consolidation, reporting, and lease management tools.
  • Contribute to IPO-readiness and compliance initiatives, such as SOX implementation and US GAAP conversion.
  • Participate in recurring close activities, including intercompany reconciliations, elimination entries, and balance sheet analysis.
  • Assist with policy manual updates, audit coordination, and other special accounting projects as needed.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to streamline global accounting operations and strengthen internal controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred.
  • 6–10+ years of experience in accounting, ideally with a blend of public accounting and corporate industry exposure.
  • Strong technical understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
  • Demonstrated success leading accounting projects, integrations, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience within a complex, multi-entity, or international environment highly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and ERP/consolidation system proficiency (experience with tools like OneStream, Workiva, or AMCO a plus).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
